Same argument for why things that were deemed acceptable 20 years ago are now deemed unacceptable. With respect to gaming in society, 20 years ago it was at the start of a growth curve. techology was low and games were simple crafted affairs that were the bedroom based toys of a quiet and young culture. That generation has grown and are adults, still passionate about a massive media phenomenum and revenue making industry that demand more from their chosen entertainment. I dont want to play Pac man and Pyjamara any more. I want adult games with serious themes. i want Deux Ex storylines over Leisure Suit Larry. The industry will respond beacuse the adults have the cash, this generation of gaming adults is largely the original customer base and we pass that down to our kids. I want the industry to allow me thought proking adult content - its my job to police what my children are exposed to in the same as it is for drugs and alcohol. Will I shield them from everything? No, and in some ways it would be harmful to do so. But I will not blame the industry for corruptng the next generation just because it will try to naturally cater to the widest player base possible.

You assume that 20 years earlier morality was in better shape than it is today, which I disagree. It's like those grandparents of every generation talking about how things in their own time were so much better. Which they were not. Lets face it, the corruption was there, it just had a different face. Besides, I'm not all that sure that 20-30 years ago people were better than what we are today. It's more like we're coming out of the dark ages into enlightment in a lot of things. What changed from the past is the exposure to more information. We are just more aware of the world around us and we will be more aware in the future. |

Totally agree with last post. The ills of society have always been present but todays media just enables you to be far more aware of them and their profiliation. Dont be scraed shitless, be thankful you are better informed and therefore better armed to make decisions that match your principle To err is human....to play is divine |

There is no god damn reason except to exploit and make money. were allready half way there, too many immature people having to deal with things that they should not have to deal with at thier age

Its also in the eye of the beholder. Many schools teach how civilized the romans where. Actually the celtics had a much more advanced culture then the romans. Celtics had laws of protection of old people and children while the romans just have thrown their unwanted babies onto the waste dump. Celtic womans have been equal while the roman womens have been house pets.
The modern western world is much more "roman"then "celtic". Thats why i think thibgs have been better :) Its not that i really care, but i just inserted DVD2 and the installation takes ages. Cant wait to patch for another few hours :P |

He never knew the face of his father and he never will. He never loved me and I never loved him. The only man I truely care for, the only man I truely love. Is the one, the only, KingCarebear. He in my eyes, is my TRUE father. He in my eyes is the father I never had. The Red Daddy is still around, he is still walking and he is still breathing. And yet, to my dismay, he is still bad and he is still mad. May the gods have mercy on my soul. And his as well, if he even has one. :-( Ichben facebook.com/Ichben.Einberliner |

How many people do you know that watch or play films or games intended for older people? I bet everyone on this forum watched an 18 certificate film when they were between 12 - 16.... and I bet most of you would argue that its ok but thats what I'd expect from someone whos has become exploted and honestly believes its the norm.....and comptly missing the point of its an 18 certificate for a reason. Wrong! When I was a kid it was PG, R or X. I saw R rated films when I was around 17 or so - in the company of my mother. I didn't see what would be termed an X rated film until I was in my 30s, don't have any need for it. So much for your porn desensitization. Some people sneak in, some don't. The ones that do happen to show up more online. |
