Funcom and PayByCash have announced a partnership which will open up alternative payment methods for Age of Conan players which don't require the use of a credit card.

Charlottesville, VA (May 27, 2008) - PayByCash®, a division of Internet Payment Solutions, Inc., will provide non-credit card payment services for Funcom’s much anticipated, award winning Age of Conan massively multiplayer online game for PC. With the support of PayByCash, Funcom can offer Age of Conan subscribers throughout the world access to premium content through more than 70 payment methods not requiring a credit card.

Shame the game world provided in aoc dosnt fit seamlessly.

I thought the point of game cards and alternative methods of payment were there to provide a way for younger audiances (mostly) who canot get a credit card to play.  However younger audiances, less than 17 should not be playing the game because of the rating.

Kids  who are under 17 would find a way to get into the game if this wasn't an option. They can lie to thier parents to use their credit cards or get someone else's, or they could get someone else to buy them a game card so this new option only opens it up for more people who don't have a credit card.

As someone with a DEEP debt from student loans that I am slowly paying off monthly I cannot get a credit card for myself and I work shift work so going to buy a game card is a rather inconvienent thing for me as well.

This opens a possibility of me being able to pay for the game easily without the hassle of borrowing someone else's credit card or having to go get a game card when  I have to get to work.

I think this is a good idea on AOC's part and I was pleasantly surprised to find out they provide this service to a number of other games http://www.paybycash.com/options/featured_merchants.php

This brings up two things

1)  That no kids under 18 are playing at present, so the myth of all wow players being kids is false.  ecause the chat and whining on the official aoc forums and variuos other forumsis the worst I have ever seen.  Sorry 30+ year olds dont whine and grief, sorry my mistake.  So then all games and mmos besides wow have pricks.. So mush for the we are 30 and we are mature myth. 

2)  That m ratings dont mean squat.  Nobody gives a crap about video game ratings.

3) Kids are playing, and playing the same m rating games as so called mature players, and youger and mature players are both acting like pricks.

I used PayByCash for about 6 years and I constantly had problems, a major one being they get you payment and active you account  and  you can log in and use it for about an hour then the account because inactive for up to 4 days mean while using up game time on the account from the time of activation(been told by more then one Game Company that they like to deactivate account while they wait for payment to me confirmed processed by their bank), another problem include long time delays before they even get around to accepting a payment, and they like to stop accepting payment methods but no update their website or inform customers till after then have sent the payment(I had this happen using a payment that I had 24 hours to cancel or be charged a $5 cancellation few, they didn't inform me till 26+ hours later when It was too late, last time I used their service).

I would suggest anyone not without a normal credit card to get a prepaid credit card it is cheaper, faster and more reliable then using PayByCash.  Now using a prepaid credit card about every 3-4 monthly payments I am saving even month for cover an extra month compared to using PayByCash

Also a little advice with prepaid credit cards is find a few a compare because some can end up costing you a lot in fees, while others have very minimal fees, and a some that are reloadable and some that  one load only.

Why not just by yourself VISA gift cards?  No fees in banks when you do that...

Visa Gift cards are prepaid credit cards.

They are obviously going for the teen audience with this one.  Hard to imagine an adult in this day and age without a credit card.  Even with horrible credit you can still get a debit card.
