OMG come on guys, we can't forget the best launch title of all times. The one that had nearly no flaws at all, thats right I am talking about....
Anarchy Online
ROTFL, sorry that was just being sarcastic, this was actually the worst launch of all time. Hell the beta was one of the worst of all times as well. Anyways, best launch that I can think of would be a tie between,
Asherons Call and Cabal Online I just never had any issues right from day one. |

LOTRO, hands down. WOW? LOL. Their servers went down after launch more than a $10 hooker. |

LOTRO, winner and still champion! Smoothest launch I've ever seen, and then they just kept adding content every 8 weeks or so, increasing world size, adding quests, hobbies... no other game even comes close. When scary things get scared, that's bad... |

Who did vote Vanguard ? LOL Lotro had a good start yep, wow had for me the best open beta so far wheras the start wasnt that good but still enjoyable, vanguard was craptastic for me. No idea how did the other games at the start. FBI - Fake Terror Plots ? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/29/opinion/sunday/terrorist-plots-helped-along-by-the-fbi.html?pagewanted=all |

Cabal Online had a great launch, unlike the others listed it is a F2P game but I almost couldn't tell that they had gone from Open Beta to Live. Given the offerings I voted for LoTRO |

I've only been kind of interested in MMORPGs for 4 of those launches and I picked LOTRO.

From those listed I'd have to go LOTRO. Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity. |

How anyone could say WoW is beyond me. Have people forgotten the constant servers being down the insane lag and the constant roll backs for the first 2 weeks or is that just me and icecrown? Even its expansion caused major issues with server stability and site stability and prevented people from putting in their upgrade codes for days if not a week+.
AoC? Well you can just go to the forums and see it didn't have a happy launch heh.
All the rest shrug, LoTR:O got my vote due to their smooth transaction from open beta to gold to release. Only minor lag issues in the major cities, and people were able to get on and register their stuff. The vendors, npcs, and banks all worked properly and most importantly it didn't crash. Though they did have an emergency maintenence for 2 hours on release night but then nothing after. It was probly the best release I have ever experienced, and hope other MMo companies can duplicate. |

I say the best launch ever was Ultima Online. It was obscure, without all the expectations (and subsequent whining) that comes with modern MMORPGs. It was so new, that people were just blown away by the concept, and the bugs were simple expected for something so different. This is perhaps a load of semantics, but I've seen quite a few mmo launches. UO was the only on I can remember were the people playing it weren't bitching, but going "Holy crap, this is the coolest thing...>EVER!" Frank 'Spankybus' Mignone |

You really should add the titles before 2004. Coh did have a smooth launch, L2 was pretty good, DaoC didn't. Of the ones on your list Lotro's was damn smooth, but my best experience was with Asheron's Call.. It also had a great end of beta |

From what I heard LOTRO. WoW was pretty instabile the first year. Daily crashes, ships disappearing dying of fatigue in the ocean. Getting killed in Barrens and turn up as a ghost in Silverpine Forest. Damn pet pathing problems. ( Played Warlock ). Falling through the world.. dunno how many times. -.- I didn´t envy those that tried Molten Core before that place was debugged. When there was Alliance attacking = laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.
Forgot the underwater bug with Ati card. Rare but when that happpend you crashed out and couldn´t log back in with that character. You had to log in with an alt and ask a GM for help. Vile reef in Stranglethorn I hate you... -.- |
