8.8 is WAY better than all other mmos on the list. Almost all topics on front page of AoC forum here is "AoC sucks ass .. worst game ever .. cancel subscripion .. do not buy" Why don't we try to get to the bottom of this? viral marketing anyone? |

It'll happen when WAR, Aion, TCoS, and all other potential big players release. It's 6 days after release and all this hype hasn't worn down. Wait a couple of months... -------------------------------------- Order of the White Border. |

Ive been here almost since the beginning and have seen dozens of MMOs released while here. Also, as a former MMORPG.com Staff member I can tell you with some sort of creadibility about this. All MMOs are scored that high when they are first released. Even Pirates of the Burning Sea, Vanguard, Horizons, and Shadowbane were scored that high (and higher) when first release. Its normal to see that score no matter the MMO. If it is just newly released itll be on the top of the chart. In about 1 month or so, itll settle down. |

I've always found the ratings on this site a little odd and its hard to formulate an opinion from the forums or the ratings. Sadly this site has become more and more plagued with trolls in recent times. As someone who is looking into wether or not AoC is worth it I wish it was easier to know what was an honest opinion and what is a fanboy rant. The general consensis I see at this current time is that AoC is a good game and worth a look but again its hard to be certain. |

I'm still going to hold on to that estimate because there's only 400,000 subs right now. EDIT: If you look at the top rated games before AoC's release, LoTRO was 8.4 and the rest were 8.3. If they suddenly dropped to 7.8 because AoC is supposedly 8.8, what does that tell you about the site's rating system? Why wouldn't they stay at 8.4/8.3? I've noticed that the rating system on MMORPG.COM gets borked for at least a couple of days after a launch of a decent MMO. It was this way after LOTRO and VSoH. It'll be "more" accurate in a few days. Babanathie EQ1, EQ2, HORIZONS, COH/COV, VANGUARD, EVE |

Yea, AoC is suffering form the normal problem that infects new games. Mad hype. Plus, did you notice that all the other top games (EVE, LotRO etc) are even lower than usual (usually around 8.3) |

If Tabula Rasa is a ranked higher than WoW, Ultima Online, FFXI, and Everquest, than i don't suppose this list has ANY merit at all. None. Hell... LOTRO is ranked the same as EVE and EQ2.

Who cares what the hype rating is. If you want to know how your game is doing wait for yearly awards. Not just from this site but every company loves to post there awards and usually on the main site where anyone can see em. If you manage to win MMOOTY (mmo of the year) from respected magazines/sites then brag. Untill then AoC is only as good or as bad as the fanboys/trolls make it to be. |

its really hard to tell. It kinda has a life of its own. I would think it will settle down in about 4 weeks. It'll stay in first place for about 2 months or so and then the older games will start to creep up. After that, the next new game (I assume its WAR) will take its spot and WAR will do the same thing until another new release occurs. They (MMORPG.com) used to have the ratings on the home page as a chart illustration but they god rid of it as there were too many variables to figure out if it was "accurate" or not |
