Here's my current system specs: OS - Windows XP Home I built this pc a little over 1 year ago. I bought everything from Newegg, and would like to continue that trend. I am currently playing AoC and was wondering what would be the best upgrade for me atm. With gas prices like they are I can't really spend a whole lot of cash at once, so I will be replacing 1 piece at a time. Recommendations for which video card/processor/etc, would be much appreciated as well. |

Excuse me for the quick bump. I was thinking maybe I could save myself some time on a processor upgrade by overclocking. Would buying a zalman cooler, along with some arctic silver, and overclocking my e6400 to around 3ghz make a significant difference playing AoC in any aspect? |

The GFX card is the weakest link, for sure.
By the way, the gas prices are about twice as high in sweden. Consider yourself lucky.. |

Heres some things to consider... I'm currently running AoC on the following system... P4 2.4GHz Processor Now, granted I lag some in the cities, well a lot actually, the point is, you should be fine with your current system. If you are already playing and having issues, might want to think about the fact AoC was launched way too early and a lot of memory leaks and other issues are preventing a lot of people from enjoying the game as intended... It's your money... |

lol you should see my specs (2004 computer with 1 upgrade which was the graphics card from a 6600 to a 7 something) and the lag is huge. however because i have used that computer for the past 4 years in every game (i have tried most MMO's) and i got used to the lag. unplayable is based on personal experience.
as the above poster stated there are memory leaks and whatnot to fix and also at least half the servers population are crammed into Tortage/the white isles so it will get better as time goes on |

Minimum on the graphics card should be 512. CPU is a little slow but with a couple adjustments should do OK. Learn how to adjust settings to maximize your system. I have no lag or other problems. Great game. |

Today i swaped my ATI 1900GT for a 8800GT and that brought me from low (18-28fps, no shadows ) to high (25-50 fps with shadows) @1280x1024 |

So if I bought a 8800GT, and overclocked my cpu, I would see a pretty significant difference? |

I would start with getting a new card. I have the 8800GTS and an E6600 along with a quality motherboard. I play the game at medium detail with an acceptable framerate. |

the price diff between GTS and GT is worth the extra performance. also, a C2D 8400 these days is like $200 (cheap!). rest of your stuff is fine, certainly the gfx card should be the first to go, followed closely by the cpu |
