I would prefer world without zones and this teleportation stuff, but on the other hand, whole world packet on 15 sq km map is more ridiculous and unimmersive for me. So im ok with this aspect . Instancing of all areas stays somewhat contrary to idea of mmo. I must say i dont like it for some reasons mentioned earlier by others, but one can always escape spawn point gankers using this system, which is good for me, since i play on pvp rpg. I like rpg aspect of pvp, not mindless killing. Generally i like the game so far (lvl 13 Necro), finding scenery the best part of it. Really, some architecture and landscape are just stunning... |

EQ2 also started with this small zones u have to load everytime. but look at the latests addons, the new zones are gigantic, and no loading at all. maybe aoc will have this too some day?

Instanced Zones destroys the political dynamic on FFA PvP servers. Eve has the correct implementation; open map where players can be attacked at any point without escaping to another instance of the same zone. Funcom's implementation is somewhat awkward and somewhat pointless from a PvP perspective. |

This makes zero sense ... if there's no limit then why have instances lol? Cripes people get off the 'This is Guild Wars' bandwagon. AoC has 'instanced zones' and pathing, but no where near that of GW. |

I hope AoC isnt like that because i have been looking for a new mmo to keep me busy till august, but if it is AoC is probably not for me. |

Original Anarchy Online had sharded zones. This is nothing new, it's needed to an extent. Overcrowded areas with little to no alternative are not fun, yet being in an empty shard isnt fun either. A median is required to make the most people happy. Public instances and zones are fine, as it keeps the game manageable on today's computers. We dont have the technology to have a completely seemless world and allow for large amounts of players (300+) to congregate and play together (standing around town socializing doesnt count, I mean heavy network traffic such as PVP) |

Originally posted by Raston I'm pretty sure EQ1 and EQ2 both have collision detection. I know for a fact at least EQ1 did because when PvPing you couldn't run through someone and I remember people griefing the bank in PoK by blocking the entrance and you couldn't just run through them. |
