You would be surprised how few people care about what you have to say.

Really? 1 million subscribers?

According to news release they shipped 700,000 for launch. This morning (saturday, 5/24) I passed by my local EB and the shelf behind the counter was still full of AoC boxes. Are you telling me they sold out all 700,000 boxes already and those are the 2nd shipments? In 3 days? Really?

Are you kidding?  What kind of drugs are you smoking?  Seriously.  This game runs super smooth.  Does it have bugs...yea...but nothinggame stopping that I have encountered since launch.  Does the GUI and Chat need worked on?  Yes.  Do they need to get the traders fixed soon?  Yes

But all in all this has been one of the best launches of a major title in years and just like every MMORPG before it, there will be growing pains the first few months.

I suspect a lot of peoples problems come from trying to run the game on systems 3+ years old and are mostly client side issues and not the game itself.   You people that are so vitriolic towrd the game need to just go find a game that you like to play.  AoC is a good game and it is a fun game.

Good luck finding a copy in the tores around here because where I live two of my friends cannot find any...they had to bite teh bullet and order online.   The stores that did carry it sold out on the 20th and do not expect any new boxes until the 27th.

Well... guess what.... They did not.

They have closed the forums to the public at this time so new players can not read all the problems people are having. Funcom will not answer people problems via Email or in the forums.

There is a HUGE list of bugs that covers Thousands of threads. This game has the largest Tech Support Thread section I have ever seen on ANY game. Even games that have been live for years do not have as many complaits filed.

Everything from quests that do not work, people unable to make toons, zones trapping people so they cant log in, blue screens of death, not letting people in game that payed for early access, people getting 10 fps or lower on super gaming PC's, people suck in "Reading Content Errors", and on and on and on.

There is no way I could list them all there.

SO.. my question is "When will MMORPG.com cover the true story behind AoC?" or will they still be feeding us the same crap for months to come?

Post is fail imo.

Closing the forums was the smartest thing FunCom did and exactly what I would have done.  They looked at what the WoW forums look like.  It's nothing, but bitching and complaining.  The people that are enjoying the game are playing it not on the forums crying.

It just got released this week.  It's a great game with bugs.  Every MMO has them.

The real story has been covered.  8.8 rating.

And yet people were complaining when another certain game coming out this year said they wouldn't have trash-filled no-use official forums. And 1 million subs in 4 days? Lol. What are you smoking, can I have some? 1 million  BETA SIGNUPS. That's it.

--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Order of the White Border.

most people would agree the above spec is total crap and out of date.

WELL... guess what?

I get 25-40 FPS anywhere in game and the game runs great for me. I personally have no complaints about the game.

BUT... HUGE amounts of people do and the fan boys are playing it down as if it is everyone elses problem and not FunComs.

the truth is "funcom messed up big time."

As to the game performance, Im rumming an AM2 6000+ X2 / 8600gts 512/ 4 gigs ram/ Vista Ult. etc etc/ I get same frame rate as you, no matter what I put my settings to, dx10 on or off , and performance is suprisingly good, for a new game. And not bad in general.

Good question, and I'm surprised there isn't more people wondering why that is.

If something that isn't currently enabled, the logical and correct thing to do is to disable the selection in the video options to avoid confusions. Unless confusion is exactly what you're trying to cause.

You sure sound confident don't you? Did you even buy the game? Complaining about the forums makes me believe you didn't. Just a hunch.

I had a terrible time running this game in beta.  I would get 20 - 30 fps or so, which is playable, but I'd also get stuttering and huge drops in my fps from time to time (constantly dying because of it), especially if there was a bit of action around me.  Since the launch, it's much, much better.   I still get a tiny bit of loading lag but that's my so-so processor.  My husband gave me a Geforce 8800 gt (the one with the wee cute fan!) and it improved even more.  (I had a 7800 gt in it)  It runs fine even with this processor which is barely above the minimum requirements but well below the recommended.

I will, however, agree that the official forums are horrible.  Worse than WoW, even.  And that's bad!  I only go there if I am looking for something specific and then I run away as soon as I find it.  A person makes one criticism and the people over there pounce.  Although thing's are much better in the game and the forums reflect that, there are a lot of people still having issues, both in game and with their accounts.  It doesn't seem to be a small number of people with problems, either.  Funcom fails at customer support, in my opinion.  They've made some bad decisions regarding business practices, too.  That doesn't, however, detract from the fact that they've put together a good, fun game.  I'm glad I can play it but I recognise that there are a lot of issues and Funcom isn't particularly good at addressing them in the forums.  People get angry when they feel ignored.

Great post. I'm glad there are people who recognize that Funcom made several questionable business decisions even if the game is great itself. Sadly, without viewing access to the official forums, these questionable tactics and the rumored poor customer support really discourages people who are on the fence like me.

Probably leaning more towards trying the game now, they tried hard enough to get my $50 and some of their smart moves should be rewarded.

I would honestly wait at lest a month before trying out the game, there is a lot of issues to work out.

when they open up the offical forum for view to the public is a good sign the game is off to a good start.

OP said "Lets hope they can fix this one fast becuase the posts of people canceling there subscriptions grows by the day"

You do realize that no one has a subscription to cancel. Everyone in both U.S.A and E.U are both still on the first few days of their free month. Not nit picking, just when you make bold statements like that, you should think them through.

Yes there are alot of complaints, and it's to be expected. You don't make a cutting edge game and expect everyone to have smooth sailing. However what you do need to look for is devlopers putting serious effort in debugging.

That is more than evident from the simple fact that the first day of release I was getting 5-10 FPS and barely able to move. Now I get a steady 20-30 FPS,  stopped random crashing, no more "black screen" when swiveling camera.

What keeps my faith is that Funcom is speaking with actions, not empty words or apology letters. There are frequent auto-patches and bug fixes being released. Bug spotted? splat, bug killed End of story.

The game does have some issues, but we all knew ahead of time that this game was going to be a monster and require a very good pc to run at best settings. Most of the performance issues come from peoples computers not from the game itself, as this is still just the first month and I feel the game is running smoothly I only expect it to get better. I have a crap graphics card but I can still play the game and I really do enjoy it, Its not perfect nothing is but it is alot of fun and great to look at.  I think this was a pretty good launch and have to say this is the best looking game graphic wise to date.

First of all: If the game doesnt run smooth, dont blame the company, cause the game runs very smooth. We are playing 8 friends together and the only one who had a problem was because he was playing from his laptop on abroad (Our comps are not super high but most can play with max details.)

2nd, the game is fun except dungeons. Dungeons are extremely boring, huge and repeating. Many people have great fun. I especially enjoy the fact that quest item drop rate is 90%.

3rd, this game is not WoW killer, we will enjoy this for a month or two, but then there is not much to do. I dont know if you guys noticed it or not but the entire game area is pretty small. I got level 41 in 6 days, and I already saw levels 80s at the end of friday.

I dont understand why some people say `this game is super cool, incredible, fantastic ` etc. Are you getting paid for this or what? That is an average everquest copy, nothing special.

And I also dont understand those who tell `the game sucks, will be another SWG failure, nothing works`etc. You are wrong, that game is not bad, point.

Now go to play with whatever game you like to  play, Conan or whatever. If you dont have anything else to play with, name your hands Candy and Handy, and make a triple with your stick. Just stop fooling real players with wrong information.

People may be having problems, but comparing the two release is absurd and completely asinine.

I agree... people need to actually realize how horrible AO's release was. Should I post up screenshots?

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...

Buggy post......AoC is really cool, its better than the average MMO and comparing it to AO is like telling me Vanilla is better than chocolate.

AoC took me by surprise and I don't see any reason why you dislike it. Granted it can be a grind session extraordinaire but the grinds seem more reasonable and less of a task.

This is not a game.

After reading all the negative posts during open beta, I was very leary of the game myself. But, I have to say since I started playing in the eary access, I have not seen any of the major problems that I was reading about. I guess I learned the hard way that people are going to blast the internet but negative stuff about games no matter what.  In the past, I have always went off what other gamers thought about the game before I could play.  The gamming community has changed so much since 2001 when the last game I started at release (DAoC).

The game does have minor problems. Key word minor not major. Such has today, the mini map is not working right for me. Is it game breaking, No way. Almost all the minor problems will be fixed over time. After playing IMO two of the great classics EQ and DAoC, I will say that both of those games had a ton of minor problems when they released. They went on to become two of the greatests MMORPG in the history of  these type of games

From now on, I will never go off any reviews or posts on any of these websites. People have become so jaded these days, that it is not even funny.
