Age of Conan

Easily the most imature community I have ever seen in an MMORPG. Worse then World of Warcraft.

However, don't expect all the little kids to keep playing. They will probably leave after a month and more mature players will stay. Hopefully.

Ill be completely honest with you.

Ive been on four different servers and every single one of them are riddled about with WoW comments. Whether it is to say AoC sucks, WoW rules, or whether it is AoC rules, WoW sucks; its saturated with it. The maturity lvl is non existant or VERY rare.  My first day on the servers I must have placed about 23 people on ignore in the first 4 hours.  on WoW and EQ2 combined i have about 10 on ignore.

Some people can say "well that what happens when people get the first 30 days for free" but I have played day 1 on release on every major MMO since DaoC and this is the first MMO that is saturated with immaturity

I feels like 80% of the people on the various servers Ive been on are WoW subscribers who just cancelled their account last week.  Im not saying its bad to come from WoW, but its  hard to immerse yourself in this world when all you hear is WoW this and WoW that.

Also, the official funcom forums are littered with WoW discussions. 

Also, I don't know if I have shitty luck or what, but people talk a lot in /OOC about wow but when you talk to them face to face they say nothing.  I just got done grouping with some people.  They didn't say a damn word and I was grouped with them for an hour.  And believe me, I tried. 

The Guild I am in is very active but im afraid its just too large for my tastes.  You ask a question or make a statement and a millisecond its gone because of the way the chat system is set up.

Game is ok but it HAS A LOT OF WORK to do to get it to par. Also, for being a mature game i feel like im in WoW's Barrens chat or EQ2 lvl 1-9 chat all over again.  I havent heard people throw around the word "noob" as much as I have in this game since back in my early Counter Strike days.

The social aspect needs some work.

The fact is you will get immature people in any community, saying AoC is worse than WoW is a long shot, WoW is pretty damn bad.

Of course with the nudity etc, the game will appeal to certain immature people so you have to expect it.

Having said all of that, you will always find great people to play with as well, so I don't see why you should be deterred by it at all, there are plenty of mature people out there playing (and I don't mean old people, age != maturity)

Gawd, point me out to your server then because all the servers ive tried so far makes WoW look good in terms of maturity lol.

I've played on two servers and have not noticed any over the top annoyances.  The server I will probably stick with is Wiccana ... if that is spelled right.  By and large the most well behaved and helpful bunch of people that I've played with, and I date back to the opening if UO.  

Its actually kinda creepy...i bet there are pods under the water...

pretty trash imo.  seems like a bunch of whiny brats who throw a temper tantrum the moment something doesn't go their way.  I can say that the mature rating certainly doesn't bring out the maturity in the playerbase.  :)

Regardless, don't let the community stop you from playing and enjoying the game.  There's always decent people among the sea of idiots.

I've been playing PVE on Dekato (sp?) or whatever its called and all the OOC chat I have been reading have been positive.   Also I have no problems asking questions in chat and I get prompt helpful answers.

That is because most of the mature people are not PvP'ers. It is a sad fact but PvP'ers happen to have the lowest maturity level. I am not lumping all PvP'ers into this assessment but the vast majority of them are very immature.

PvP servers are, as expected, extremely childish. The forums are full of folks having trouble or just trolling, as expected.

My server, Wiccana a PvE server and Unofficial RP Server, has a fantastic community. Even during prime time it's very adult, very hopeful and fun. One of the few MMOGs were I didn't immediately want to turn off the global channel lol.
