as long as you can be with you party or guild....does it really matter if an area is instanced...and also...when is an area ever have more than 100 people... why do people make such a big deal. |

Before WOW, there were MMORPG''s. After WOW there were online solo single RPG''s. |
Instancing and zones are great. They better encapsulate chat and socialization. |

Originally posted by Housam If you never played a game without instances, you will never understand how awesome it was. Not just from a PvP aspect, but from a PvE aspect as well. Some of my best times have been randomly meeting up with someone in a dungeon i was soloing and becoming long time friends with them. |

If only more developers would do more events like this! That was alot of fun to be a part of, though I was not in this video! From what I've been reading you'll never see anything like this in AoC!

Apparently some people think AoC uses instancing like Guild Wars instead of Tabula Rasa, CoX or EQ][. They may be confusing instances (private dungeons/missions) with instancing (creation of multiple outdoor zones when the zone has too many PCs) though the terms are similar so I understand the confusion. |

Clench all you want, it''s still going in. |
Originally posted by krackajapyou can do the same in AoC. Most of the dungeons are "social" dungeons, with plenty of other people to randomly group up with, compete for spawns with, etc. Zones only replicate themselves when it would become an over-crowding issue, to avoid the unpleasantness of not being able to get anything accomplished.

Originally posted by DeathMutant3I understand the instancing, and it just doesn't sound that great! Like another person posted I like to be somewhere exploring and run across some random other player and become friends with! Actually some of the best friends I ever met were found that way! I played EQ2 some and AoC is similar yeah? Thats no fun...even if I can see the others players text from another instance it still feels so confined since I can't see that player unless I switch to their instance. Also takes the immersion away if I have to ask what instance your in to meet up. |

Gamer fanboi. All games are good and/or great, in their own way! Stop da hate and go forth and play! |
Originally posted by Wharg0ulThe social dungeons are one of the things I liked about EQ2 and like about AoC. I also like the private group instance dungeons as well due to their scripting and what-not. All in all I don't think the way they implimented zones and instances in AoC are a negative at all. I agree with what Whargoul posted above and think that these mechanics fit the game and the lore very well. My only complaint is having to wait on my game to be delivered. I should have known better and gotten overnight shipping! >.< Cheers! |
