"Eye for an Eye"

The biggest turn off right now , since I was considering the game today was not be able to look on the officical forums to find out how the community is reacting to the launch. When games do this :

It kind of tells me they have something to hide. What that is could be some kind of bug, hardware comflicts ect, things that anyone preparing to buy the game should be able to read first. Why are they doing this, you can have people read but need an active account to post ? Something is wrong with this ppicture and all anyone  sees whilelooking into to buying this game are the rosie fake smiles of fandriods all over the mmorpg scene painting a scene of life is perfect in this game, with any critism being deleted by the deep pockets of Eidos,. People who buy into this kind of marketing are failing the rest of the genre. Game websites selling out to it are just as bad.

It is amazing how money changes everything, even a game score on a website.

what it tells me is that they're trying to keep the forum trolls that plague wow as far away as possible.

The early start has gone near flawlessly,  with only minor patches.  Things should be almost perfect for launch.  much better then any other mmo launch i've personally seen.

It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a viking to raze a village!

Actually, the official forums are overwhelmingly positive.  It's a nice change from most game forums and the doom and gloom crap.

Say 2 people who are painting the great view of life in AoC. Sorry is i seem a bit skeptic but I like reading things for myself, not having people paint the picture for me.

You can set forums like in Lineage 2 to read only if your not a subscriber ?  Anarchy online is open to read, why should a launching title be any different. The support section is what I like to read to see if there will be conflicts with my system before I go and waste money ...

I've been pretty critical of AOC, being that i was in CB. Still didn't mean i had made my mind up yet on if i was going to purchase the game or not. I agree with the OP, i would rather read for myself how the launch has gone rather than take people's word for it.

Then what where you aiming to get with this post if not to gather some people's feedback? FunCom to re-open their forums?

Suggesting devs have STILL got something to hide even after the game is out is ludicrous.

How about FC opening their damn forums so people can read and get some solid information before going out and dropping 50 bucks on a game that maynot work or has some other issues.

"My soul finds rest in God alone: My salvation comes from Him."

- Psalms 62:1

I can assure you the game is running perfect for a launch, a few glitches here and there but I havn't had a crash today yet. However last night they did release a patch that totally messed up anyone using a AMD processor. I waited 8 hours to login yesterday and then when I loaded up AoC and killed a mob I had a hard crash(had to reboot), and the forums went crazy. Anyone with an AMD processor was not able to play, BSOD's. However they shut the servers down and I believe did a rollback and now it works fine. But that was resolved very quickly, and through EA I had no issues other than last night. I logged on this morning, and no issues anymore. I am up to level 16(granite not high) and so far I really like the game. Not repetitive like other MMO's I played.
