I really hate to make this post because I know from the starting area what this team is capable of, but you have a right to hear it.

The starter area was great. Once I got through, it was obvious that the rest of the world has not had that level of attention.

The first thing you will notice is the lack of NPC voice overs. Not a big deal overall, but after the starting area..I did notice it missing. The next thing you will notice is less populated cities. 60% of Old Tarantia is closed off and completly unfinished and unpopulated. More than half the City! The area is blocked off but I managed to slip through thinking to check out the noble district and common district to find that its empty.

I have no doubt these guys know how to make a game, but don't rush through the first part there's alot more work to be done for levels 20 and up.

(Edit) By all reports though there is enough content to level through quests and some of these empty areas may be populated in different Instances.

I think that the reason for thqt is the first 20  levs really has a great plot and a final objective. After 20 every thing opens up and your more free to pick and choose. I am really loving the post 20 play adn the post 20 world. Hard to beat the first 20 levs cause had such a great story, but i am really having a blast playing this game. Its been a while that i've had this much fun.  Funcom does a GREAT job of hooking the player at the start i know they got me

Read the post again. He didn't make it extreamly clear, but it sounded as though the OP meant that the NPC population was light, not the player population.

Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

Limited NPC is def a possibility.  If I remember the lore correctly from AOC though, the cities werent exactly populated that much and some of them were even run down.  Keep in mind the game has not officially launched yet so im sure there is def going to be future patching fixing things.  The game 1-20 is ALOT of fun however and I have heard people 20+ enjoying their time quite a bit.  So as long as the game is interesting to play and the siege and player cities are what they said it would be, im good for several years here.

Just a comment on the noble district in old tarantia... It is not closed off click on the gate and you will zone into it.  There are NPCs in the garrison and troops marching up and down the roads.  It is kinda odd though that the majority of the area is inhabited by lvl 40+ npcs that are agro to me so my exploration past the garrison was abruptly ended.  The troups however don't like the lvl 40+ npcs...  I'm sure their must be a story about this area but I wasn't high enough.

Also the wildlands town area seems pretty well populated as well.  There are lots of quests and stuff their.

I will say I was disappointed in the lack of voiceovers and felt kinda ripped off.  Also I'm seeing an aweful lot of quests that are of the type, kill x mobs, or deliver y to x, or harvest x, or kill y for item x....  Rather formulatic...  The text however around the quests are very detailed and the lore is nice.

Yes Ethion is correct. You have to load the Noble district for it to "work". Reason for this is that it's a questing area. You can see Aquilonian troops marching up and down patrolling the streets. There's also high level mobs aggroing from insane distances. I tried it in Close Beta but I wasn't high enough so I had to leave as well. I remember something about guards saying they had it locked down because of disturbances, but you can zone-in if you like.

Until the day we all got 10GB RAM as a minimum on our PCs, we have to load zones if we doesn't want it to look like say WoW or WAR. It's that simple.

The noble district is indeed open and not closed. There is a backstory behind the ... no, no, no spoilers. Noble district is where the King's castle is and you will have the opportunity to visit him.

As for the voice-overs, I believe the destiny quest running up to the max level still has them. I don't think the rest of the quest NPCs will have them however, unless they get added at a later point.

Personally, I would like to see more zones added in future patches, than voiceovers.

I'm only level 25 but I dislike the 30 quest max limit

...  I could easily have 50 open quests for my level

I have zero open quests from Tortage (had to delete some to make room)

and never hit the Quest limit while under 20 in Torage

of course, I explore a bit

maybe theres less quests after 30, dunno
