"Give me control of a nation''s money and I care not who makes the laws" |
When is someone going to get off their rear and make something other than fantasy or sci fi MMO's ? We get it, orcs are mean and gnomes are cute but enough already ! There are soooooooo many incredible themes out there that an MMO would do well in.
Seems like there are just an endless supply of amazing opportunities for themes available. Yet we continue to get the same old lame settings.

Originally posted by admriker4There is a horror MMO that is in the very very early stages of development. If you heard of White Wolf than you might be very very happy. It is also going to be developed by one of the more stable and better MMO companies in CCP. A World of Darkness MMO. I think there is also a Western MMO that is in development, but no big named company. Simulated world is ehh for me. There is sim-life and real life a bunch of others that tried it and did it poorly. There is also a MMO in the past other than Roman Victor if you look at the list. All aren't good.
The SG MMO is sci-fi but it has present day elements and add some stuff that other sci-fi MMOs don't have. The WOD mmo looks good and has a solid background, but it will be a while. I would like to see a Half-life MMO or maybe even a Fallout MMO. Both are great franchises with great storylines. There are way too many fantasy MMOs right now.

A MMOG set in the Old West is something I have been wanting to see for awhile. I remember reading that Steve Jackson was going to make one based on his GURPs rulesets a few years back but I think that got axed.
An Old West setting could easily provide many types of play-styles in one game that could cater to the PVE, PVP and crafting crowds.
Things like gambling, cattle rustling, gold mining, saloon running, farming, gunsmithing, making moonshine and becoming a sheriff/deputy of a town could just be a few of things that would make it feel like an actual living breathing world.
Of course if a developer just did a half-assed job on it the game would turn into one of the most boring games ever.

Western MMO there's "one", but... from what i saw is not good, and even maybe not even MMO. Cant bother looking for link, it's that bad. For history based MMOs, best one sure is A Tale In The Desert

WoW = Waiting on Warhammer! |
Poor Gods and Heroes. I wanted to play it just for the lore. Rome is awesome, Roman and Greek mythology is awesome. A GOOD MMO set in those times would make my day. |

I would like to see a post-apocalyptic mmo based after the original Wasteland ( pre- to the Fallout series) Also one genre you forgot is an espionage style mmo. Something based on the 'Top Secret' RPG. |

I haven't seen any Steampunk MMOs yet.
You get a huge potential for crafting and an 'invention' system would be nice.

definitely, though: There is one of these being made by SI- FM Live or something. All the rest definitely would be a good change from the norm. |

I'd love to play classic fantasy ... ... oh wait, I'm already doing so.
