With the constant crashes from the test ( even after the very last patch) I decided to hold off. There were so many rumors about what caused the crashes, from no updated drivers to the Vanguard/EQ2 excuse, " this build doesn't support dual core or quad core cpus". I fell for the " ITS BETA, the live client will be fully stable!" bit for AO, EQ2 and Vanguard :D, I guess 3rd times a charm really does mean something. Will have to find out from the people who bought it with similar PCs as to whether or not the crash-fest still exists.

I think another major reason for my turn off from buying it is, quite frankly, the loading. When you come home from a long work day, you don't want to spend a good portion of your game time loading. The game also does not feel like a true "open" mmorpg. When you move around in other MMOs like Vanguard, WoW, Asherons Call it feels open and massive. Age of Conan just feels like DDO, a streamlined linear and restrictive game. Everything is instanced with borders and the game starts to feel claustriphobic once you get into your 50s and realize there really is no true openly massive area. The game is just so.... tiny.

The new combat system I find is just incredibly pointless and more work than needs to be. Whats the point of hitting a special attack THEN 1,2,3,q,e ? it's just more work and has nothing to do with being "revolutionary" in the gameplay department. I have weighed out the negative vs the positive for me to get this game at this point, the negative currently is so much higher. I haven't had one experience during my whole beta time that made me go " WHOA " heck yeah I am getting this. Nothing really stands out in the game except for the graphics.

Well I can surely say that this game is running smooth and looking awesome. (remember NDA lifted on CB for lvls 1-13).  We were running the probable release client last night (according to Devs) and it was simply awesome.

Anyway, you have made your decision and I have made mine, but somehow I feel like I have made the RIGHT decision.

I start playing in less than 3 hours !

Who the hell do you think this information interests?

We are all waiting to get in the game thats goes live in some hours :) And we will have tons of fun.

I agree with the OP, going to wait for trial at least as beta was a mess.

next to Lotro, Aoc prolly is running smoother then any other MMO before release, there recent patches have been amazing and the game is running amazing..if you want to hold off, thats your choice, dont understand why we have to hear about it....

Not all games are for everyone.  Sucks this one isn't for you since the other options are pretty crappy, but I hope you find a game that you can enjoy playing.  I wish you had the kind of kid in a candy store excitement that I had today.

You bloody craven! At least have the mettle to test it for yourself the 20th! I wasn't bothered by any of the things you mentioned since they've fixed most of them since I last experienced the issues! Release will be even smoother and today I go to Early Access with the full intent of enjoying this to my heart's content. If you have come here to start a war, to the abyss with you! I'll have my wars in Hyboria, not with forum trolls!

I will be waiting as well to purchase it.  Whether that be a few days, to a few months after release remains to be seen.  I will sit back and watch the circus of threads that get posted first, then pick out the sane reviews to help my decision.

iv never had a loading problem in aoc...only take a few seconds....

What a surprise, someone posts their genuine opinion and the immature 20-ish year olds jump on him, telling him to f off, calling him a war fanboy, ect ect. ProfRed had a decent post, good job. Even though i'm pretty much going to buy this game and play it on the 20th....

I am amazed how rude some of the people are here, really what have gone into you? Sometimes some(or alot) people are unlucky with a game and it's messy to them, just because it went smooth fore you doesn't make their experience a lie, the concerns are valid indeed when it comes to the performance ect.

Show some more love and stuff, some of the things he said were actually pretty valid and  are a little of a buzzkill in any game.

I for one am 22, and he's spouting false truths about the game. There's more to every story, and the issues he states are no longer issues. His intent is to make the game seem worse than the truth of the matter.

I value your opinion. while I feel the instancing is not nearly as bad as DDO, it does kill imersion. I disagree with you views on combat system theres a very large point to it all.

the "point" in combo system:

if you play the game for a while you might realise some of this brief explanation. you need to use certain combos at right times to get them to hit. if your opponent has all shields on right hands side (RHS), and you use ur sweep combo which ends on a right attack, you will miss. this adds a heck more stratergy to pve.

and in pvp it will make it alot more "twitch" for the pro players who will risk moving thier own shields. they see you are doing a combo which ends on a right they will move thier shields to the right, the end of your combo and its bonus damage will be reduced significantly (with all 3 shields). you will see players doing this in the end game lvl 20, when people have enough practise and can memorise which combos attack where.

see how it works? it puts real life skill into doing special moves, and into blocking them especially. if the moves where instant (although some are), they couldn't be blocked in this way. its also reflects real combat, anticipating where your oponants swings etc. ever done fencing?

edit: I dont think the system is perfect. but I'm sure in a year or so of extra pollish it will be shiny smooth.
