first of all aoc is NOT a wow killer because wow will NEVER DIE!!!

wow will loose players to aoc... because is't getting old (almost 4 years) BUT wow will stay for manny manny years. So in the next few years you will probably see server merging in wow.. but that's just normal

There will always be people who come back or leave wow

but you'll see in 10 years wow will still have servers running ( UO is also still online..)

I will not say aoc won't break wow's records. The game is getting so popular that is't perfectly possible it will easely hit 10 miljion players

Don't tell D3mis3 that! You're absolutely right of course. Except the AoC hitting 10 million subs part.

I don't think aoc will break even 1 million subs.

I predict a good number at launch.. about 500k, then a hefty decline after the first month and settling in at 150-250 subs..

WoW will never die? I call shenanigans on that one. WoW will die. All MMOs die at some point. Will AoC kill it? No. Will WAR kill it? No. Will the combination of the two lead to a decreased WoW population? Yes somewhat it will.

It was the same thing with EQ when WoW was released. People said that WoW would be the EQ killer. Which it wasn't, EQ was simply killed by two things, old age and new MMOs. However it's not like the day after WoW came out there was a mass exodus from the EQ servers.

Get real. And stop making posts for the specific purpose of creating drama. That's all that can come from a thread like this.

nothing will "kill" wow. As the OP stated, UO is still online, and being played. So is EQ1, DAOC, AO, and most of the classics.

AoC will steal a good amount of players from all games. Some will not like the active combat mechanics, some will not like the fact that they need a real PC to play it. Most will fall in love with it though, and stay.

I think we'll have a couple million playing in a few months, and will probably stay around there. It's an amazing game, and I'm sure people around here consider me a "fanboi", but realistically I doubt more than a couple million people will meet the AoC target audience criteria.

I do believe it won't be no wow killer but i would rather the idiots stay in their pen and not bother us.

strange... i'm 17... and that's a bid of a stupid thing you just said...

It is not that i hate aoc, I'm even thinking about it to buy the game in a few months after the release.

But I still like wow and i have played that game for almost 3 years

I'm pretty sure most of us realize this.

No game that is going to come out in the next two years will have the potential to kill WoW. I predict WoW will kill itself at this point or sooner (they've been doing so with their expansions) but if not then that would be the time to take the throne of the God of MMORPGs.

WoW has been holding that title for a very long time and will keep that title simply because of how well the company has been managing it. What will cause WoW to die is by killing itself or by Blizzard making a new MMO, or if it exists in two years, maybe somebody can take it by then. But by now there's no chance of anything taking away WoW subscribers... well there is, just very small. I believe there's always a possibility for anything to happen but it's better to hope realistically.

Never in my life have I seen a sentance that I agreed with more than this one.

Couple million ?  You sir have very high expectations, Don't hold your breath waiting for the first million to show up.

I know for myself I found a game that please  me.Is all I care.I dont play for others lol, I play for me.Perrsoanly I found AoC  fun and entrataining.Do I care or makes me  feel better if the "mmo near you" is or not  anymore on the market?Sigh wake up peeps..

I have high expectations because I've been playing the game, and I know those expectations are realistic.
