How many of you quit other MMORPGs? How long has it been since you quit playing MMORPGs? Why are you going to play AoC? In other words, what is so special about AoC that other MMORPGs hasn't done before that AoC is doing, that is making you resub to MMORPGs?

I am asking, because I recently (about a month ago) quit MMORPGs, because I have just got bored of them. Those MMORPGs I did like, I quit playing due to the smallish communities or because I was too behind the mass to ever take part in the fun stuff. I am interested in AoC, but haven't been sold on the fact that it is different enough to not bore me after the newness wears off.

Game: Warhammer
Character: Monte and Validorn
Class: Witch Hunter and Swordmaster
Guild: The Guardians
Server: Phoenix Throne

AoC will be / is my choice MMO to play simply because just looking at screenshots and videos (i.e. see mordrias great pics) gives me that feeling that I am looking for in a online fantasy setting, without forcing elves and gnomes down my throat and calling it a day.

Between the graphics, epic soundtrack, good pvp, great class variations and choices, full character customization, voice overs, and...well, you get the point.  There are many "things" about this game that paint the bigger picture.  Not to mention I'm gonna enjoy my company of all you guys and gals in the game.  See you all in Hyboria!

Simply wait a few weeks after release until the dust settles. Things will be much clearer by then.

"Beer for the beer god!"

I've learnt my lesson long ago about playing a new MMO on launch. Its always a huge dissapointment with massive lagspikes, troubles getting quests done, etc.

I will continue to play WoW and EvE untill maybe a month after AoC has launched. After that, I might give AoC a try (Though I will unsub WoW for that, EvE for life!).

Frankly, by reading all the posts here and on the Funcom forums about AoC, it looks like the crap WoW community is moving there, so I'm not 100% sure I will play it at all.

I am currently playing LoTRO and I will keep my sub just because I am a total LoTR geek. Of course I am also a Conan geek which is why I will be playing.

if only we could have a star wars mmo worth a damn.... /sigh.

Clench all you want, it''s still going in.

I quit my other MMO subs for a couple of reasons.

I am sick of the traditional MMO model.

I am sick of auto-attack combat. AoC combat is totally different, and I friggin' love it. No, it's not the newness...I'm a CB tester, with several toons, some quite high level. I STILL love it, and it gets better every day.

I detest high fantasy settings, and there are very few decent games that deviate from that setting. AO is one, and I played it to death. After several years, I just can't grind to 220 again.

The graphics are INSANE, even on my old rig.

Most importantly: it's fun. Fun in new and interesting ways.

I'll be playing this one for years, I have no doubt at all.

To the poster above, if your afraid of the wow community coming to a new mmo, then be prepared to never play a new mmo again.

*edit* sorry that was to, BizkitNL

*edit again* i'd be leaving wow for AoC, but i haven't decided to leave wow or even come to aoc.  I'm still deciding.

Something must have happened to the gene pool lately...

I gave up on MMO's. I do play them, but i usually solo them till level cap.  It just doesnt give me that feeling of early online gaming like in D2 and i never had any real social fun since i left my first guild. Times have changed over the past years.

I dont like the direction of MMO's. They are restrictive. If i want to be a healer then i cant hunt deer with a bow but have to nuke it. If i am an archer then i cant heal. Its even worse with crafting. I want to carft whatever i want.

I want to have 1 main and no alts and i want to do whatever i want to do. Thats my long term motivation, but games dont cater to that anymore.

Playing WoW at the moment for the first time. I am lvl36 and i ll play this char to cap, then i ll join AoC.

Simple: New Car Smell

Yep, you read it right.  Same reason some people buy a new car every 3-4 years.

Now, do people do this because of some exciting new innovation hits the automotive industry every couple of years?  Nope, just want something new.

Four tires, headlights and a CD player, all pretty much the same as quests, feat trees and crafting.  New look, maybe a few extra buttons and lights.

So with that being said, I'm looking forward to a nice Saturday afternoon ride, with that new car smell.

Your post confuses me greatly. You say you play world of warcraft, and obviously you've played it for awhile. You then go on to say you won't play age of conan because of wow players switching to age of conan. Do you see where i'm going with this? You are apart of the community you hate so much.

I guess if you close your eyes and pretend you're better then everyone else who plays world of warcraft, it makes everything all better.
