Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone.

Video gave me goosebumps.  Amazing job, Keith Olbermann.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/05/14/countdown-special-comment-to-president-bush-shut-the-hell-up/

"In an astoundingly ignorant interview with The Politico’s Mike Allen Tuesday, President Bush insinuated that electing a Democrat in November would lead to another attack on America, and revealed that he made the ultimate sacrifice by giving up golf shortly after the start of the Iraq War — the timing of which he lied about. Naturally, Keith ripped into him tonight — with all the anger and passion you’ve come to expect from a Special Comment — for continuing this despicable fear-mongering, and for failing to understand what true sacrifice is."

(and we screwed it)

He gave up golf. I think he is slowly realising what it means to cause the death of one person. Maybe in twenty years he will start to understand what he has done.

Then why didnt he give up life instead of golf, would not look too appropriate to be alive while soldiers were off dying.

This is completely idiotic.  President Bush isn't some dictator picking people off the street and sending them into harm's way.  We have an all volunteer military force.  People sign up knowing what they are getting into.  And while recruiting numbers might be lower, retention is still extremely high.

I don't see the issue.  He felt that it would be wrong for a President who's country is at War to be out playing golf.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

How long do you think we can sustain a volunteer only military?  Bush has lied to the American people to get us embroiled in his asinine war and doesn't seem to understand the ramifications of his actions.  Bush is one step from a dictator and has stretched "executive privilege" to the breaking point.  Bush has also taken 452 vacation days (as of March, 2008).  That's well over one year of his 7 1/2 years in the presidency...a time that has been tumultuous for our country.  I can't figure out how anyone can defend him.

Congress supported this war as well.  If they were really that against the WAR it would be over already.  Congress controls funding and could of cut the purse strings on the War years ago.

Also while I didn't support the war in the first place.  (I am an isolationist when it comes to foreign policy)  The worst thing to do know is to just pull out.  Pulling out will be spun as a victory for the terrorists.  Their numbers will swell with this apparent  victory over America.  It will also leave Iraq a vaccuum waiting for the strongest to come in and take over.  I just do not see that as a good thing.

"I play MMORPGs to feel FREE, yet I am always in chains."

Related but not:

I think the American people should work harder.  I think the American people need to work harder to:

  1. Pay for Bush's Tax Cuts
  2. Pay for the Wars on Terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Wars on Drugs in Columbia, and Wars to Protect Israel
  3. Pay for the Country's World-Record-Breaking Debt

Americans need to work harder to pay for these things, especially when the wealthy countries of the world (Saudi Arabia, e.g.) stop giving you money to fight all of these "wars."
