CCP has announced that they will be testing Empyrean Age, the next expansion for EVE Online, on Singularity on Saturday May 24th.

Come one, come all, and all that junk. Next Saturday, 24 May, at 19.00 GMT we're going to be convening on our test server, Singularity, for a bit of playtesting, and you - yes, YOU, lucky and valued reader - are invited to come along.

The plan is to have the bulk of the features for our summer expansion, Empyrean Age, up and running on Singularity this week, and the playtesting will be focusing on all the mechanisms involved in Factional Warfare, which is the main feature of the expansion.

We're hoping to get a good number of people online so that we can give everything a good thrashing and see how it all fits together in practice.

Secondly, as a measure to encourage people to push the envelope, we'll be keeping track of various statistics and so on over the course of the evening, totaling up scores and coming up with some winners in various categories. These will probably include most kills, biggest contribution to the war effort, best bug report filed, most bizarre bug found, most missions completed and so on. If you think you've got what it takes to have a shot at one of these titles, I fully encourage you to show up - we might just make it worth your while if you win.

i thought that was... different.  have never seen anything like that for any other game who has players beta test new expansions/updates.

I wish they'd realize how idiotic it is to have their news, patch notes and forum only readable by subscribers...

For someone like me who bounces between MMOs all the time, it basically kills the game unless I've recently tried everything else I like first. What usually gets me resubbing to a game for a while are new patches. But when I hear about one for EVE I go to read about it, get told to fuck off and think of them to do the same...

The ingame news and patch notes are for subscribers only, but the forums can most definitely be read by anyone and everyone.

Factional Warfare is what I have been waiting for since it was originaly announced for the expansion that later became Trinity.

It will finally add some real direction to the game. Which is what alot of new players complain about in EVE. A lack of direction and goals. And playing since release off and on I can see where they are comming from.

     Only one word comes to mind ,awesome,that about covers it.

Made of win, I feel a re-sub comming on - possibly 2 re-subs! Cant wait, really wanted it in rev III / trinity but they couldnt do it because, basically, Ammar sucked - but hey some buffs later and they are deemed 'fair game'.  I always did like them, but will be playing Gallente due to higher standings, skills and RP.  Shame its consented would be awesome if it was a massive 2v2 battle having to hold frontlines to defend carebears : P, but that wouldnt have worked,

Also is it two 1 Vs 1 wars,        one 2 Vs 2     or a FFA (lol?)
