Im not AA, but I am close to whats happening daily in the CB, so I'll give you my opinion. (also, there is no NDA breach here, as I am allowed to discuss my findings of level 13 and below) CB is being patched now almost on a daily basis. Had a patch on the 12th and the 13th. Though the patch brings about minor new bugs, it addresses TONS of old ones. My frame rate a week ago was sitting around 15-25fps in Tort and 20-30 outside with crashing every 2-5 minutes. I'd also crash while in the process of zoning. This has come a LONG way. I now get 25-35fps in Tort and 40-50fps outside and as of last night, I didnt crash once. To me, stability and fps are most important. The rest of the game is what it is and I'm sure you already know plenty about it. A person is either going to like what they have created or not. The important thing is that they are able to play what was created without interuptions. As a side note, they have redone a lot of the icons. Gone with more of a red look. Also the splash screens are revamped with more of a red look. The also added a ton more blood effects when you hit a mob. It now looks like the old pics and vids that used to show these effects. |

Originally posted by Psiho246 That would be speculation. Officially, we were told we could discuss anything from beta that was level 13 and below. We were never told to shut back up and stop talking. |

You can talk about anything up to level 13 which includes performance updates since you can log on as a level 1 and experience them. Avery puts up with a lot and puts in a lot of effort to defend the game from liars, trolls, doom chickens, and uninformed people. If it wasn't for people like him then someone might come to these boards and read a load of crap from someone like Alan0n and be put off from a game when there could be a good chance that they could really enjoy it. Not every game is for everyone, but some games are just right for some people. He doesn't force his opinions down others throats like most of the trolls do, and the only reason people say crap like 'He's an employee.' is because of how many times he proved them wrong, or stood up for something he believed in.

Do you expect to get an unbiased answer from him?

Originally posted by convict He has always promoted the game the way we all do, he doesnt say anything biased, in fact since he has been promoting it and looking forward to it so much, i would say his vote counts even more.
No one puts that much effort into a game and if it sucks they say "Nah its relaly good"
trust me if he thinks its a bad game he will tell us, if he thinks its a good game he will tell us.

Originally posted by convict Its rare to find a truely unbiased opinion. Very rare. There wouldn't be a courtroom/jury conviction in this country if all they looked for were unbiased jurors. That said, the real question is... Can a person give an honest opinion while still having a bias? I believe they can. Some here do. Most don't. |

ER, well, it wouldn't take much effort to search on his name and pull up all of his (edit: MANY) recent posts on the subject. I think you'll find that overwhelmingly he's pleased with the game/beta so far, and he'll definitely be there come launch. Anything else I can help you with? And as for my BIASED opinion... I have played almost every commercial MMO to be released since EQ. I have stayed in some for years and others I have left in a couple weeks. I could care less which company does well, and which does not. If the game is good and has merit, then I play it. Many MMO's have had good ideas but poor execution of the idea, and in the end, lacked the "fun" element to keep me interested. As for AoC, I have enjoyed it. I like the combat system. Is it far more complicated and skill based? No, not really. it requires a little skill for positioning, but it still presses buttons. That said though, its different than the norm and to this point, fun. Overall, its amoung the better of the games I have played. Only time will tell if it is good enough and diverse enough to join my top ranks of games and keep my attention for a year+. But based on the last month or so of play, this game will be a winner. A year from now (barring any unforseen stupidity) it will have a very good population and should be in the top three (US population) MMO games. |
