No joke. I remember hearing about Darkfall when I was heavily hooked into Asherons Call back in the summer of 2001. I found the Darkfall website and admit that it did look pretty interesting. I know for a fact that Darkfall was in development back in 2001 and had a FAQ on their website that the release date was "Fall 2003".

What I want to know with this question and thread is why are so many Darkfall fanbois claiming that Darkfall has been in development less then 5 years?? It was originally supposed to RELEASE in the fall of '03... that's not when the development started on Darkfall.

Like I said I KNOW for a fact that the Darkfall site said a planned release date of "fall 2003" back in 2001 and I am pretty sure that they claimed that the development for Darkfall starting sometime in 1999.

..If that's the case, then it's safe to say that this BS vaporware crap has been around for NINE PHUCKING YEARS!

Maybe the 1999 was when they came up with the idea, when the game was "conceived" or something, but this game has been in development for a minimum of 7 years.

Seven years.(or possibly as many as NINE)...Good Grief.

Still no beta, or promised release date. Still no real promising videos or information on the website. Just the same old BS that's been around for years and years and years with the fanbois claiming every damn year that "THIS" is the year of it's release.

This game is total BS. The sooner you fanbois let go of it, the sooner you can get on with your real lives. Just imagine if you had all those years of waiting on Darkfall to release back. Just imagine if you had put some HOPE into something actually real.

We decided to open the site to visitors today. Basically we are inviting friends over to the site to get some input on the site itself. We are going to add some engine screenshots and some information about what you can expect in the pre-alpha-test-invited-people-only version of the game that we plan to have out by the end of August. When is Darkfall entering open beta testing?
We are hoping for a open beta test of Darkfall in Q4 2002. The word "Delay" is very common in the game development industry though, so we can only hope and guess at this stage.

When will Darkfall be released?
We are hoping for a Q1 2003 release of Darkfall. Again, delays happen, but we are working hard to get Darkfall ready for release.

How much will I have to pay to play Darkfall?
We have no idea yet, probably the same as other MMORPGs on the market - $50 for the CD, first month free, then $10 each month. We'll see.

Why dont you read up on the game before making retarded posts like this one? Razorwax- 4 guys working in a basement in Oslo were the ones that wanted a beta and release 2003. Razorwax merged with Aventurine late 2002 and game were restarted from scratch midsummer 2003. So midsummer 2008 DF of today will be 5 years old. Theres shitloads of Dev statements where they state Dev time starting summer 2003, guess it was to hard for you to find yourself? But then again youre here to troll so why should you make some digging on your own?

2001 was start date for Razorwax development. 1999 is something you made up to make game look worse.

So 5 year is development time of game of today. Youre very poorly informed about the game and i suggest you read up on the game before making any more stupid threads like this one.

Official release date is 2008. This can be read in last Dev Journal, you didnt read that one, did you?

Game is just superb, it will be the best game ever, a revolution among MMORPG games. Way, way better then the shitgames were offered today, like AoC, WoW and other carebear games. And the sooner you stop posting your BS on this board the less time you take from me responding to your utterly BS.

They DID NOT start from scratch. I gurantee you with a doubt they used PLENTY of the original coding that was made before they moved to greece.

You're saying they built a new engine from scratch?, networking and completely scrapped all game logic coding?  And built a completely brand new game starting from Mid 2003? bullshit

They were OBVIOUSLY working on Darkfall since 1999 considering their Faq back than said they planned on having a 2002 BETA and 2003 Launch.

Aragon, I have to at least give you credit your posts are so whimsical they are hilarious.  I least I get my laughs out of them. 

The only way this game will ever release is if the developers drop about 2/3 of the features and focus and getting the game out. 

My guess is they have a basic game fairly far along, but the feature list has them completely bogged down.

They should look at the successes of others.  Eve started small and is doing quite well today, there is no reason Darkfall can't do the same.

Until the development team recognizes this, this game will continue to lead the vaporware lists.

Ahhh, right. So under your ideas of how things work, IF let's say Adventurine merges with Limitless Horizons (the company that made Mourning) and they continue working on this BS game for another 5 years, nothing up to the merger with Limitless Horizons would count right??

Furthermore, I don't need to look up devs posts and crap on the Darkfall website. I know what I read and when I read it and almost exactly what I said has been dug up and proven to be true by other readers here. Darkfall has been around and has been worked on since 1999. The website started in 2001. But none of that counts, I know.

FACE IT. Darkfall IS Bogus, and likely to NEVER happen. Even if it does ever see the light of day, it will be CRAP. No amount of your self deception and convincing yourself that Darkfall is great will change this.

Even respectable PC magazines are calling this game vaporware now. But you still don't see the light. That truly is "sad".
