Peoples creation date and all can be seen just by monitoring it.
In a heavy PVP game this is lame. EASYMODE for the scared and lazy!
WTF is the anonymous option? This the first gamer to not have it especialy for PVP? |

Lets see so whenever you want to see if the WT is in the system you have to check every station, then you have to drop probes and scan for them; and you are not even sure if people who you are looking for are there at all. It will take better part of an hour especially in the large system to determine if there is a war target in a system or not. If anything it will hurt the PvP because no one will ever be able to find anyone aside from random run ins at the gates nothing will ever happen. |

Personally I'm torn on the local issue, it would be great to be able to use better ambush tactics or sneak up on targets but the ability to be able to find targets is totally necessary. If local was removed there would need to be a whole new system of seeing exactly who and what are in a particular area because IMO scan probing and the system scanner are to clunky to enable fluid skirmish combat as with local you can send scouts out and then gangs and fleets can find each other and fight, your scouts see them and their scouts see you and then the tactical phase begins as both FCs try to get the favourable upper hand and having to faff about with long winded probe scanning would remove that. 0.0 space is pretty big and going 30+ jumps for a fight is fairly normal if local was removed and only the current recon methods where in place it could take hours and imo EVE has enough unnecessary time sinks as it is. Local being removed would probably mean a lot more NPCers got caught with their trousers down but I think the side affects like low sec becoming more unpopular by removing the non pirates safety net and the ground shaking changes to 0.0 combat make it necessary to either keep local or have much better mechanics than the current ones. |

I'd have to agree the local channel should stay or a much faster more efficient way of scanning systems would have to be implemented. That said the local channel could be seen as a way of scanning the system for comms chatter and there for who was in system. Also all ships will be giving off an IFF (Identify Friend or Foe) code of some kind so that could be how the local channel could be seen as too. If that where the case I guess there should be some kind of option to turn your comms off, or removing you IFF but that would mean having no assess to chat channels or Live comms. In the case of the latter it'd be very hard to regulate if people are using an independent comm program. In the case of a removed IFF you'd not show up on local? but it would mean that you would apear as a hostile all the time once you where in sensor range even to you friends & allies. Maybe all ships come fitted with some kind of hidden tracker, A corp secret as it where so they can keep taps on there ships and there crew? Well unless it was build from scratch with such a thing removed. There are many ways you can try to explain the oddity that is the local comm channel. In one hand I'd like to see the Local chat changed so that you can not use it to hunt and evade, but you'd have to have a much better and efficient way of finding targets. However removal of the Local channel could make the community more isolated and I'm not sure that’s a good idea to be honest. It’s a difficult one really I'm in two minds about it, the more I think about it.
