Actually, I had responded to this post on page one, and the topic initially was "Anyone else freaked out by being a female, getting hit on by a female prostitute", more or less.

My answer stands:

I am not so narrow minded to be disturbed by being hit on by a female character. Homophobia has no place in game...or out, for that matter.

Sure, the decapitations, blood, & nipples are all just fine...but gods forbid I am hit on by a female prostitute...alas and alack!

Whilst there were some *colourful* responses (to say the least), for the most part...I found the very question itself to be more of a problem.

Besides, Forums are the place where people show their ugliest sides anyway in case you haven#t noticed before. The anonymity of the Internet makes them forget about social guidelines and morals and just shows what kind of people they -really- are. That holds true for any Forum by the way.

 

Again, I don't know what big -news- you try to bring us here. So there will be idiots. OK, *shrug* More people to ignore or kill in game then if they behave that way towards my GF or my friends.

Sexual harassment is a world different then the cut throat hardcore in game PVP of EVE.

I agree nudity in AOC is helping to draw a bad crowd. Even the devs sound like pervs when they talk about it. They lied when they said it was just to be honest to the books. Thats a bunch of bull.

@OP: Not exactly sure what this thread is supposed to show. Thousands upon thousands of threads have been created from all games and genres and ratings that are not the most pleasant. There will always be this type of community in a game. I'm not saying nothing should be done about them, but as you can see, moderators were taking care of a good majority of the tasteless replies. But they couldn't block every single one that mashed into that single thread.

It's like every game. Sure, a good amount of bad apples can be moderated and taken care of, but not everyone. Do you honestly expect a perfect community from a game? Yeah, the thread you show is beyond one of my top to list of sickening, but trust me, there are plenty more, and for every other genre and game. Just because the game is rated "M" and is from a writer in the 1930s is not a fair justification to say it will attract the type of people you suggest. It's like saying a good portion of WoW players are into beastiality just because you can play a character as a cow. It's an unfair characterization.

If I wanted I could easily search up for you, within 5 minutes mind you, a thread from WoW, EQ, or any game you wished that was much more sickening than what you are showing. But, really, I don't want to add to this nonsense. Adding fire to fire doesn't take down a fire. (I didn't mean to sound hurtful with this post, just wanted to state my mind on this subject.)

These are the kinds of things that AoC will solve. There are hundreds of discussions in forums that can't be solved by simply negotiating, this is why we need wars. We can solve these pointless arguments by killing each other in wars. Its the same reason why there are wars in real life. Wars succeed where negotiations fail. If someone is dead then the argument dies too. People like me look at the good side of all these fights in the forums...at least it will mean some pretty intense fights in the game too.

But one cant be surprised. Funcom ASKED for such a band of trash-people. Yeah yeah its all like in Howards books, I know. So what? We dont have 1930 we have 2008. Maybe I put too much believe in men, that they could evolve. But place them one scantly dressed woman in front and it all goes bye bye apparently. Disgusting.

Funcom asked for it. It was not necessary, but all the design choices CALLED for such human trash, and there it is, calling its own stupidity out aloud. It seems to me straight men are as dumb as I thought after all. Bah... ><

The dumb part here is...if roles were reversed and a guy complained about it...thousands of women bashing him for making such silly comment would be acceptable. But since it is a woman making a stupid comment n gettin bashed is unacceptable.

That poster on the AoC forums is obviously homophobic. Gettin hit on by an NPC in a GAME is disturbing? What she afraid that the girl is gonna pop outta the screen n attempt to molest her? I remember that quest n really didn't even look that much into it. OK so NPC was a prostitute, n using that skill to get you to do something for her.  So do the dam quest n move onto the next? Big Friggen deal! Get a life.
