It's sobering to imagine death on this scale from a natural disaster. The figure will only rise, apparently there are untold numbers trapped across the area.

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

felt throughout most of china... wow that is some power there, nothing short of amazing.   I'm in awe.

A mathematician wakes up at night, and comes to the startling discovery that his room is on fire. He runs to his desk, and starts calculating, using many sheets of paper. Eventually, he writes "QED" and exclaims, "there is a solution!" Relieved, he goes back to sleep.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

I heard about this earlier today, when the toll was 5000.  Now 9000?  Terrible.

"If you warn me about global warming once more, you''ll get a swift carbon footprint in the ass!"

Unfortunately, I'm afraind the death toll is going to go much higher.  There are still thousands missing and there's that  collapsed school that has about 900 students trapped underneath all that rubble.

I have to wonder how their government is going to respond.

There's nothing 'natural' about the Clintons.

On a serious note, yeah I heard about that school. I'd imagine all kinds of countries are offering assistance, and I hope China isn't too stubborn to take it.

9000 for such a huge scale disaster isn't much considering the population of that country.  Birma death toll is over 32k right now.

"And I Aint Ever Ran From A Ninja And I Damn Sho Aint Bout To Pick Today To Start Runnin"

I don't care about the population of China. Over twelve thousand people are dead man. This isn't a time to think about population. I give my heart and tears out to those people that have to live though that situation. Such a natural disaster could have happend anywhere.
