Hello everyone! I am looking forward to Age of Conan(haven't played beta) but I have some quick computer questions. Here is my current setup: Windows XP professional Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.00Ghz 2.00GB of RAM ATI Radeon X1600 pro 512mb AGP card
Now, I know this is probably not enough to run Age of Conan decently. I don't have a lot of money and was wondering if an extra GB of RAM and a new video card would help. This is the one I am planning on getting and is cheap enough to afford. Radeon HD 3650 512mb AGP video card. Will an extra gig and this new video card help? Thanks in advance to all of you!

i think when i checked my task manager while playing i saw 1.4GB of my memory used. I have 2GB. would task manager or has anyone seen task manager using more than 2GB or ram for AOC? how does that work? if i had 4 gigs of ram will i see aoc in task manager using 3 gigs? if someone wants to get semi technical regarding this id appreciate it. i wont hesitate to throw more ram in if i can see it is working(task manager). chips, dips chains & whips. |

I think you will probably run into more trouble with your processor speed then anything. 3 ghz is the minimum, but you may be able to run it. It might be worth waiting to see if someone with similar specs is able to run after launch. As for your other question, yes Ram always helps. 1 more gig will be ok, but know that if you go above that you will need a 64 bit OS system. Your current video card might run, it has enough on board mem and isn't too bad. It's a 3650 ;) |

So even though it doen's appear to be using the other part of the ram, some information is constantly being loaded. So even if it uses only 1.4 in task man, you are actually utilizing alot more to preload. Also, if you use 4 gigs you need a 64 bit system to utilize it fully. I don't know much about AGP and Radeon GPUs but your CPU, RAM and OS are similar to my machine. I currently run at high settings (w/shadows) averaging 25fps in urban areas (the most demanding terrain) with a nVidia 9600GT. Originally, I was running at low settings with a nVidia 7600GT and the game still looked great. I recommend that keep your existing setup until you see the retail client in action then decide if and what to upgrade. |

Thank you to the above poster. It gets my hopes up a bit ;) I have the money so I'm most likely going to get the gfx upgrades and more RAM. Wouldn't be a lot of money and would hopefully boost performance. |

So, I was talking to my friend and got him to pick out some good upgrades for a good price and this is what he came up with... ECS A780GM AMD 780G HDMI Motherboard ATI Radeon HD 3650 512mb PCI-E video card AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+2.4GHz 2 x 512kb 65w Dual core processor.
All of this would total about $230 and I believe would increase performance greatly from my current setup. |

very similiar to what I'm getting and with rebates coming back around that same price :)
Should be leaps and bounds over my current rig which is a sempron 3100, 1.5gb of ddr400 ram, ATI x1300 Pro (AGP) |
