Next WoW, probably not.

Next big game, probably yes. It has alot of potential. It's really fun to play, alot of things to do. Just read all the reviews around here you'll get a feel of it, but to break it down.

Awesome game with performance issues for some people.

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

I wrote my review on AoC which I titled ' Age of Conan: "A great Game with a fatal Flaw"  '. Read it HERE.

AoC will NOT be the next WoW. It will be the First AoC. These will be very different games. It may be best to decide what it was about WoW that you liked (Or disliked) after that, it may be easier to see if AoC is right for you.

Good Luck

I love the game already and that was just from playing the open beta.

It does require a pretty decent system to play however.

Age of Conan Minimum System requirements

    * OS: Windows XP / Windows Vista
    * GFX: Shader 2.0 and 128MB ram, GeForce 6600
    * RAM: 1GB
    * CPU: 3 GHz, Pentium 4
    * Resolution: 1024x768

    * Recommended Specs:
    * CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz or better
    * GFX: nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX  or higher
    * RAM: 2 GB

Quite a few people were having issues it seems with certain computer hardware configurations so I can't speak for everyone but the game runs VERY smooth with my computer. It's pretty new and with the exception of the motherboard is probably considered higher end. Here are my computer specs....

 Edit: The last beta patch cleared up allot of issues people were having btw. Which is why i said were having issues - just wanted to clear that up.

Windows XP
NVIDIA® nForce 680i SLI Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra 768 MB
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
250GB SATA 3Gb/s 7,200RPM 16MB Cache

Clench all you want, it''s still going in.

cartain aspects of AoC virtually prohibit it from being the "next wow".

AoC can be quite complex and challenging, and therefore will not appeal to many players who want to be able to play with one hand while watching television.

AoC also demands a reasonably up to date PC to run properly. People with a walmart pc won't be playing.

AoC is an M rating game. That pretty much cuts out a good percentage of the wow gamer population right there.

AoC will never have the player base of wow, and IMO, that's a good thing.

It wont be the next WoW because kids arent supposed to play, and its not a game that is on permanent easy-mode.

Its funny I can see myself playing AoC for the more challenging combat but getting really annoyed when I want to just chill and push a few numbers. :)

I have gone from pre-ordering to not wanting to play then thinking what the hell I might as well play and find out for myself.  If you can waste some money to test a game then why not, I figure I will get a months worth out of it at least and then everything else is a bonus.

for those times when you want to chill....play a caster.

Personally I play a conqueror, because I love combat mechanics. At higher levels, strategy becomes very important. Every battle is engaging and fun, IMO.

I have hopes for the game, but I wouldn't recommend "run out and buy it" to anyone at this point. Based on what we were able to see and experience in Open Beta, the game could seriously go either way.

I don't think it's possible to predict anything about the extended play experience based on the lvl 13 cap Tortage experience. Nor were we able to see enough in the one day of FFA grief-fest lvl 20+ to make much of a judgment either. There were glimmers of hope, as well as some negative signs. The severe limitations they placed on our ability to check out the game really make it impossible to predict.

It's one thing to gamble $50 on a game you may possibly hate with in the first week, but for those needing any kind of PC upgrade the decision is a lot clearer. Wait and see how the game is being received a month from now, then decide if it's worth the investment.
