Alright I apologize about yet another will my PC run this thread, and I suppose nobody can really answer this for me as hopefully things from beta will be fixed/improved for release... But heres my rig... did I waste my money on the pre-order, or should I be alright. Thanks in advance, we don't all know alot about these things. : D
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600 +2.40 GHz 2046 MB RAM 320 GB HD NVIDIA GeFORCE 8500 GT 512 MB

Thanks Guys, I wouldn't mind throwing another stick or two in it, but its my processor that worries me. |

Vista or XP?
Vista works best with 3 gig+ for AOC |

Processor should be fine m8 at or around medium, graphic card is the thing that will hold you back a bit,all in all you should run the game fine maybe just some tweaking. Edit- grab yourself another 1gb+of Ram also. |

your gfx card might be a problem, but the rest of the system should be able to run it. so if you are getting bad fps then upgrade you gfx card and it should improve a lot. |

Damn I thought if anything it would be my processor that would gimp me, or that I'de need another GB or two of RAM.... I've used this Graphics card for VG/Oblivion/Lotro... several top of the line FPS games. I guess AoC truly is bringing requirements to a new level. Guess I'll give it a go and upgrade asap : / |

Originally posted by Meatimus 8500 isn't a gaming card, and 8600, being a gaming card, runs the game on low settings, so yeah, you'll probably have some troubles running the game due to your vga, your processor should do fine, while there's no bottlenecking in your rig, your computer isn't prepared for games, if you could run others it's cause the requirements were way lower, or cause you are running at a real small resolution. |

Should run it fine, mines a little bit higher end and runs max settings with 30-50fps. You could probably run at a good FPS with at least low-medium settings. |

Originally posted by MeatimusThat comp will play the game fine. When I first got into closed beta I was using a single core 3.0, windows XP, 2gigs of ram, and the same exact video card as you. I had no problem playing. 25-45 FPS on medium settings.
Don't let the babies that don't like the game sour you to it. |

I understand that AoC has higher reqs which is why I asked but I wouldn't say my setup isn't prepared for games when It runs everything with no probs, so far anyway. and I run at 1440x900, which I personally don't consider a small res.

Originally posted by Caligulug I couldn't agree more, I was also running nearly the exact same single core 3ghz system you describe when I first got into Gen Beta, and I had pretty much identical performance to your own. Though occassionally I would peak around 55 fps. Medium settings on my end as well. The last line really is a word to the wise though, this game is attracting more naysayers and whiners than you can shake a stick at, however most of them are simply bitter due to there own poor performance (stemming from a wide variety of problems, every one due to user error on the part of the end user and/or there lack of a proper system configuration and modern components). Don't let any persuade you into "waiting" or any such nonsense, at worst you won't like the game, at best you will absolutely adore it. Either way, thats a chance one takes in the PC industry where you primarily are unable to rent prior to buying, unlike console gaming. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I don't pretend to know much about game programming, but my problems didn't seem to be realted to the video card at all. The hard drive just seemed to be grinding almost all the time. I have a quad core 2.4GHz Pentium, 4GB RAM, and a 8800GTX 768MB RAM. When the program wasn't accessing the hard drive constantly, the video card seemed to handle it fine. In fact, after that one super OB patch they released towards the end, I frequently had spikes to over 100FPS. However, when I was in town, or with a lot of objects and/or people around, the performance was unplayable. It was take 3 steps, then then hard drive would grind away for a few seconds. 3 steps, grind grind grind, 3 steps, grind grind grind. I think the problem is just with poor coding, not so much video card performance. |

I got after the "miracle fix" patch. At highest settings. About 15ish fps at the FFA mayhem. with my 8600.
So yeah, about it running on just lowest isn't that correct. Then again, it's a 512mb with a total of 1200mb memory :x The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon |

Card is fine. Some people ran it on Geforce 7 cards. It's the combo of OS and RAM that is the question. If you have a 32 Bit OS, you need 2GB. If you have a 64 Bit OS, which it looks like you do, you need 4GB.

For the above posters experiencing heavy disk access trying defragmenting your hard drive then use the Repair/Compact Database option with SimpleConfig.exe |

should be fine, as is can probably play on medium. With +1 gb, you could probably run this mid-high with certain things tweaked down and without much stutter.
