Played : WOW,LOTRO,COH/COV, EQ2,SWG, EVE Online. Playing AOC. |
Hey! maybe we could make: A GI Joe (with the kung fu grip) FPS MMO! it could......no it would look like WOW...... What about a hello kitty MMO? You could help your friends and and......no it would look like WOW. Hey I know!!!!!!........What about a transformers MMO where you could turn into any car...you....want.....no it would look like WOW. Now I have it!! we could make an MMO about making MMO's!!!! yeah Thats It......no.....sniff....some dumbass will say it looks like WOW.... I hope someone is getting the point here.........

Unfortunatly, WoW is based off a lot of MMos that came before it. And certainly MMos that will be released will have some elements that was also present in WoW. So the accusations that any future game (of the fantasy genre) will be a WoW clone will continue whether its deserved or not. IN the end, they are all like D&D |

What I find amusing is the people who claim that games like VG and AoC are not as graphically impressive as WoW. Cracks me up every time. |

Then the best thing to do is to create a game that is as little like WoW as possible. Via artistic approach, gameplay style, timeframe and setting, or a number of other details. All given the same overall care and polish that has gone into WoW...
...dammit. |

I find it funny, that the WoW hatred is so profound on these and other boards. I did write an article of What Blizzard did right and wrong with World of Warcraft. Read it HERE However, when the world is destroyed and only charred books remain...I still believe that WoW will be considered a good PVE game. However, the strong feelings against WoW have neared hatred, I wonder if players want an ANTI-WoW... ...or Bizzaro-WoW (heh, that would be interesting) |

Regardless of the hate spewed upon these forums (and the very oddness of it's rating at only the 20th or something best game ever), WoW is a great game. The hate for it is just because it's mainstream, and people like to bash mainstream so they can rebel and seem 'cool'. For anyone who was an MMOer before WoW's time, remember the anti-EQ hate spam? LOL And regardless of all that spam, EQ was and still is (even though it's dated) an amazingly awesome game. One of the top 10 of all time for sure. |

Wow does a lot of things right, and if it weren't for the crappy endgame I'd still be playing it. The core of the game is superb, but the raiding or pvp grind end game is truly craptastic. |
