"Pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance." -Sun Tzu

Just wondering, now that Open Beta is wrapping up, what does everything think of Hide being able to be used by every class?

In my opinion... I don't really like it. It just doesn't seem right. Warriors and Casters shouldn't be able to randomly be invisible (especially since perception is broken at the moment :P) in the middle of broad daylight.

What do you guys think?

I like it, especially given the fact I will be on a PvP server. Makes a nice change from the World of Roguecraft in which everyone has a chance to hide for a breather!

Perhaps when perception is working properly it will seem not so bad?

I don't like it in rangers, all of the sudden one slows you down and there's nothing you can do about it, if at least I knew where they are, I could run and try to charge before I get stunned for 10 seconds.

Other than that, it helps a lot against gank squads

Yes... well... I'm sure we all have our own opinions on the Rangers in this game... *cough* they need a nerf *cough*.

Anyways, I guess Hide is a good idea... but it kinda takes away from the Rogue classes who are designed to be the sneaky ones... doesn't quite make sense when a huge Guardian suddenly appears behind you out of stealth :P.

Never was a fan of stealth myself. Well, I should say I never was a fan of the ways that every game until now has done stealth. Stealth is too much like magical invisibility and not sneaking. Yes perception 'helps' but its still a key you can hit and just vanish like a ninja. I don't have any ideas of how it can be made better... i just know I'm not a fan of it :)

So, because of that, there are only two implementations for stealth I tend to like. Either nobody gets stealth, or everybody gets it. This is the latter, so it works for me.

I guess the other option is an extremely limited version of stealth for a few classes, ala WAR. Won't know how I feel about that until it releases and I experience it for a while. But it seems to address a lot of the problems I had with other versions of stealth - auto win, auto escape, ganking.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

Beware the cult of purity
Infectious imbecility
I''ve made my choice...

Stealth was a core mechanic of REH's Conan stories, and almost every iteration of a Conan story features stealth at some point.  If it were not in the game, it would be a blatant disregard for the source material.  It'd be akin to taking orcs or humans out of WOW.

If you had no stealth you would not be able to walk 1 minute out of the city

That probally is there answer to Ganking on the PvP servers. It does work to get out of those areas.

I like it.  Perception and stealth are a nice balance.  It is also a nice way to deal with the problem when someone is blocking a door or something since in stealth you can walk through people.  Very nice.
