I've been playing the beta and had fun getting into the wider world of AOC this weekend and seeing more of what the different classes can do.

On the plus side, I love the game's looks, the armor sets, and how Funcom really has captured the spirit of the Conan world. I also find the combat system refreshing.

What I don't like are the gankfests and how much of a system hog the entire game is. I recognize that I'll probably have to sink some cash into my rig before I can improve performance.

So, all in all, I think I'm going to wait. Not necessarily write AOC off completely, since it seems to have some very cool features. But I may wait a month or two to wait out any launch problems, learn more about the various classes and zones, etc.

Anyone else feel like me?

I certainly don't plan to wait, though I respect your opinion and right to have one.

I will be playing starting the 17th. When most of the kiddies who whined about the five dollar fee for Early Access will be packing lunches for class, I will be lopping off heads and getting a good head start on things so I can be well past Tortage on launch day in order to avoid the flood of new players.

Despite what naysayers spew, it is a breath of fresh air imho, I've been involved with the game since mid-closed beta, and I couldn't be more excited for the release.

War Mammoth! yes indeed.

In my opinion on MMO's, the best times to play are at the start because everyones new and everyone is experiancing things at the same time.

The Community will be at its peak (of assholes and friends turst me).

And you will find yourself with the best memories once the game first starts because you will have never seen anything like it before.

I do it for the experiance more than anything, thats why im getting the game laucnh day.

Not I.

The game is going to be fun in the first few weeks.  Launches today are playable, games are more stable that even a few years ago... what has happened is we have become spoiled little brats.  Might it become boring? Yep.  Might it become better?  Sure.  But I will have fun BECAUSE it is new.  Later I might stay around or I might leave.  I come and go from games all the time.

I have never understood the male mentality of "I play this and only this game!"

Or "This game rocks and all others are worthless!"

I will play tConan and if I find I am not having fun, I will stop.  I will also play City of Heroes and Pirates of the Burning Sea, maybe try my hand at Eve and anything else I feel like it that day, that week, that month.

I just don't get why there has to be an enforced division between your hobbies.  I am a runner but I never think "I am never going to run a 5K or 10K while I train for a half marathon."  That is rediculous.  So is most of your anal aversion to any game that you are not currently fanning for.

"Eye for an Eye"

If it came with a free month, I probably would pick it up just to own the game, but as it is now, the I just can't see myself get it any time soon ,,,,

After what I have seen this past week...I am so on board.

I was unsure if I would keep my pre-order...but, I am convinced that something new and special is happening here..

It is not a WoW clone, not an LOTRO wanna be, not a Tabula Rasa "we don't get it" style of gameplay, nor is it a Vanguard screw up..

This is fresh, exciting, gorgeous to look at, and damn fun...period!

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us down the road...

Later

I'll never ever again spend money on a game I haven't tried - Vanguard, in case you wonder...

A trial will help me decide if this is for me or not. No trial most certainly means no buy.

Ill wait to pick the game up.

I got my beta key and decided to give it a try with an open mind, I have a good rig, so I knew community's concerns shouldn't affect me, so far It's been like that, I had no performance issues running everything on max settings and 16x AA, 1920*1080 with another screen with internet.

Now, I had some crashes, found some bugs, and I'll wait for people to review the game once it's out, so far the game clearly needs some improvements in certain parts of it, but I think it has potential to be a good game in a pair of months, if devs keep improving it.

I also depend on my clannies, to see if someone else wants to play AoC with me while waiting for our main game, It sucks to play alone ^^
