I need a second game for a change of pace. I have been playing LoTRO for 18 or 20 months (lifetime sub)now counting beta and looks like Conan is not going to work for me. I am thinking about starting EQII fresh. Is AB still the best server? Also what is the best mana slinger class now ? My old clases were wizard, warlock, and summoner. Are they still viable classes? Any other suggestions as far as class goes? I prefer mana slingers, pet users and healers.

Anyway I am going to DL a free trial this afternoon.

Quick edit and question. I have my original EQII CD's. Does the Norath expansion include all other expansion packs also?

The Kunark expansion is the one that includes them all I believe.  I'm playing several classes, and they all seem viable depending on player skill.  The 3 you mentioned are still fun.

Piece of advice, assuming you get Kunark.  It doesn't matter what char you make, good or evil.  Around level 10 head to Timorus Deep (spelling?).  Take any carpet to Sinking Sands (DoF Expansion), then take that carpet to TD.  Look on your map and head to another Griffian Tower (not the one at the docks).  Easy way is to follow the shore on left, water on right north and you'll see it.  Take that tower to Runk or something like that Island (the shorter named one).

Those solo quests will lead you into 19/20.  The gear is better than most of the gear from the old AQ, and level 40 chars are still wearing some of the jewelry.  Best gear hands down in the game for new chars.

Edit:
I'm also playing a fury, a nice mix of nuker and healer.  Go down the INT AA and the Energy AA and you'll be happy.

two quick questions is the new xpac for EQ2 a download or one I have to buy. second I keep hearing alot about LOTRonline is it really any good. I keep debateing on trying it right now i just got back into CoH/CoV and I'm actually starting to question it because well I want something deep and fun. EQ2 may lag for me because my PC isn't exactly high end.

both games have trials you can try

I personally think the EQ2 trial doesnt profile the game well  (ie. EQ2 trial stinks)

I agree with all points. The EQII trila is the FAE thing and I don't care for it that much, like Nadia said it does not do EQII justice. As far as LoTRO goes give the free trial a shot. I played EQII from beta unti about 2 years ago and loved it. Switched to Lotro when I gotr in their beta test and bought a lifetime subscription. I have time for a second game and was considering AoC but decided against it. I am darn near ready to reinstall my old EQII client again and get the latest expansion.

My honest opinion is you cannot go wrong with either game.

I could never get into LotR.  The game is well done and deserves a try.  The classes and grouping / content just didn't fit with my style, and so I decided to stop playing it.  I'm also not a fan of the lore.

Actually, I am SO happy with RoK pre 20 content.  I could not stomach playing a good character because I could not stand the setting of Qeynos and now Keletihan.  The music, the quests, the voice overs, the graphics, everything just made my stomach curl.  That newbie quest in Keli where the girl is crying and acting like a brat?  I started looking for my belt. . .

Anywho, RoK allows you to bring good characters to TD and I like the atmosphere, hate the city but outside is great, and past 20 who cares?

So yeah, LotR is of a similar flavor.  Except I could not find an escape.  Everyone is essentially on the same side, and doing their fight for the good, and the cute little people running around.  Where is a ratanga when you need one?  Go get that little guy and bite his foot off!  Teach him to run around without shoes.
