I know there's already a topic bout this but it will only get lost in posts. So I recently got really frustrated with AoC lag spikes/crappy fps (even in lowest settings). So I went out of my way to find a fix. I found one and now I play in 100% all high settings.

Here's how I did it.
>Open Control Panel

>Find your gpu company icon/control panel (I'm with nVidia).

>Open it

>Find your 3D settings page, should look like the image below. Change your settings to match the images below

>Now open the program tab, find age of conan .exe's and enable the same things as shown in these images.

>Then run AoC, then go to video options and turn on the following from the images below, you can change to suit your preferances but you must turn on anti alias.

Oh and if you want faster load times and even more stability you can disable all sounds ingame, and reduce/close any programmes you have running on your pc. Enjoy.

force vc doest work under windows vista.. so ye even if that helps.. i dont feel like getting stuck on 60fps while i had more before patch.. and have twice less now.. those settings only can help if you have all those aa /af on 16, on medium/low end pc.. and changes nothing on high end. as we play with maxed out anyway

Well I wouldn't know bout the effects this has on vista (I really don't like that os yet, so I rolled bk to xp), but on an xp machine these settings have been known to work. Before I did this I had 1-10fps and got severe gpu and mem leaks. Now i have 30-40fps and I use everythin on max with bloom turned off, and AA on 4x.

As for the sound issues I only mentioned turning it off as an option, ofcourse people who have onboard sound would see more boosts from doin this.

Oh and I run a AMD 64 3800 cpu, xfx nvidia 8600 gt gpu,2gb ddr2 mem.
