Hi people,

These are my computer characteristics:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

Memory: 2048MB RAM

 Sound: Realtek HD Audio output

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS  320 Mb

Well, with that I got not very good performance in Open beta with Medium graphic. Now, after the "miracle" patch and all, I am getting just 20-30 FPS, and drastic frame drop in crowded places or pvping. Anyone knows if I should change something or if the problem is not with my computer? Thanks for all

(no trolling please, i just want some hardware help)

Have you tried setting affinity to one core? I read that AMD processors may have an issue that can be fixed by setting affinity to a single core.

Run AoC then when it's running alt+tab to desktop, go to task manager and right click it in applications. Select got to process, when in process right click the one high lighted and select "set affinity". Then uncheck one of the cpus and click ok. Restart AoC and see if it helps.

If you are running on Vista, get more RAM and CPU if you truly feel you need it.

If you are running XP, then you should thus consider the CPU, ram should be efficient enough on Xp with 2 gig.

The one thing I don't see is your Operating System.

Your computer is superior to mine with one exception.  I have Vista with 4 gigs of ram.  The game runs flawlessly for me and my video card and CPU is a lot lower then yours.

If yoru using Vista 4 gig of ram is pretty much a must.  If your running XP, you might want to think about getting Vista and putting in 2 more gig of ram, it really seems to make a big difference in this game.

Hope this helps.

Have you changed your graphics shaders from 3.0 to 2.0? I think you can do that in the options.

Well, since you have an AMD CPU, you can't get Intel, which is imo the better CPU at the market today.

Upload your dxdiag, so I can know what kind of Motherboard you have.

To get your DxDiag file, go through the following steps:

  • Go to the Start menu, and click 'Run'.
  • Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  • Wait for the window to pop up, and then wait for the progress bar in the bottom left to reach completion.
  • Click 'Save All Information', and choose a location to save the file.

Upload it here, or alternatively copy and paste(please don't do this, it's a lot of text.)
