Better is a very subjective term. Darkfall may (or may not) have a lot of features that people have been calling for, -BUT- it remains to be seen if this game will have more success than a standard, niche-based game. Why? Because of the hardcore mentality behind it. FFA PvP Servers with full looting? How many people do you think will be attracted to that? Quite a few, certainly, but masses?

In the end, if the game releases, i think it will be a niche-success, maybe along the lines of EVE-Online. It will not compete with AoC or Warhammer or WoW for that matter.

i hope you know your going to be eating your words before the end of the year : )

I'll try to clear it up, because I am a Darkfall fan, but I'm not insane!

Game has been in development for less than 5 years.

Beta will be short, a few weeks before release, release will be 2008, that's all we know. There won't be a long public beta(no MMOs seem to have them anymore, and they're not really "public" anyway <looks at AoC smoldering in the corner> They're doing most of their testing with professional testers and bots.

Numbers and underscores_is NOT a key feature of the game, and most people don't like this news. It could very well be temporary.

The world is absolutely massive, yes, but no one ever said twice as big as Dark and Light.

Better PvP than AoC, surely, better than War? I don't know, Mythic's PvP is still the best thing on the market right now with a 7 year old Dark Age of Camelot, we'll have to see.

PvP anywhere, true, no levels, true, no grind, probably true with this game design, but no one has actually come out and SAID that. Siege a city, yes.

Better raids than WoW, thats most MMOs out right now, so that's probably true. The real raid masters and EverQuest and Dark Age of Camelot. DAoC still has one of the longest and most difficult raid encounters in the MMO world. Caer Sidi. 13+hours to complete, not to mention Master Levels, which were insanely difficult. Now MMOs are pansies and have low scale low skill instance raiding.

Graphics will be good, realistic, but doubtful if its better than AoC. I personally like the style better, but AoC has higher system specs, and will probably be able to handle more realistic graphics.

Naval combat sounds like it will be very fun and realistic, but no, no one has said anything about it being better than potbs.

Where'd you get that number from? I would think with the amount of "stuff" says about how great DF is, those numbers would be higher.  People over on the AoC boards are complaing about 200 vs 200 battles being too small.....

 

 

it was in a dev journal. has 200 vs 200 in a area been tested yet? on AOC

One last thing, I find it very hard to take the devs serious now after seeing their naming policy.  Numbers and underscores....There will be no RPG in this MMO.

numbers in name is limited and can be changed if it gets to bad during the play testing plus we cant even see names above heads anyways
