SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

In a sense I guess it is comparable to GWs. The game will be mostly PvP, like GWs. Good graphics, like GWs (at least for it's time, GWs2 will probably improve upon this vastly). Zoning is similar to GWs, a one-time massive load for each zone and then every time after it'll load quickly. Only difference is that most maps won't be instanced and much larger.

Yes, in a way it is comparable to GWs. I don't really think you can compare AoC to anything that has been out yet, though... I haven't seen any major MMORPG as gruesome and adult as this, and the graphics are mind-blowing. What is good about the game is that it is combining a lot of things from all the major companies into one, which is what I'm liking about this game. If anything, I would compare it most to Everquest II in terms of graphics, zoning, and etc. (just a completely different type of fantasy game, though).

Jesus is the Sun of God

If you al say that then, it actually is more like FFXI.

FFXI had zones like AOC seems to have.

FFXI had some dungeon instances that AOC seems to have but AOC seems better because you don't have to wait 3 hours for the other person in the instance.

FFXI is more party based which AOC seems to have.

FFXI is story based which AOC seems to be.

So actually its more an evolution of FFXI then anything else.

I'll just throw this in there since hopefully it's obvious to some people. What we're seeing in this thread(and most opinion threads) is the result of someone playing the Fileplanet Open Beta which is restricted to the first 13 levels of the game.

There's 67 more levels to go and many of these people haven't left the starter area, take their opinion with a large grain of salt.

For the record I haven't decided on whether or not to grab this game either, I'm still testing it out myself. I was impressed with the performance today(in Closed Beta) after the large patch. That's always a positive.

Maybe....maybe not...

You're ass-u-ming

But...who knows for sure.

As to the poster that said it is like FFXI...that sounds like a great analogy...as FFXI really needed an evolution...

I basically do not believe AoC is a "MMO" in the sense of most MMO's today.

It requires more skill than most games today, it is heavily instanced, but allows more players in a field than GW does..

The city hub is similar to GW, but now has quests...

You get mission zones...like GW (you enter an area for specific tasks...) and can stay there as well...

You can get farther and play better in a group setting...than solo (ala GW)

Has an underlying story...like GW

So, I think they took all the MMO boredom out, and turned it into a really good "Coop Online RPG"

Thoughts?

Either the funcom devs are blatant liars or you are on the wrong boat.

Tortage is a starter and tutorial zone.

The landmass at release is around 185 sqm. Kalimor and eastern kingdoms (WoW) are approx. 105 sqm. Although landmass doesnt say all, because dungeons and caves might increase the real size  a lot.  Classic EQ2 has probably as much underground as landmass. LotRo's instanced epic book parts do not take away the real landmass of a mmo. Neither do the small gigglebigler instances for events in EQ2. So, what makes you think you will play in small mission instances forever ?

It requires more skill than most games today, it is heavily instanced, but allows more players in a field than GW does.. Yeah it requires more skill. But the game is not as instanced as people think. The game is zoned, like EQ2, and it creates instances when needed. The start, for example, is an instance. But yeah, the game do a good use of instances.

The city hub is similar to GW, but now has quests... Well in mmorpgs the cities are more or less the same. You go there to grab quest. Mybe Im loosing something.

You get mission zones...like GW (you enter an area for specific tasks...) and can stay there as well... Never played GW, but what i experinced in AoC Open Beta in that field has been really good. You need to go find someone, you find him alone, not with 10 more people hangin around.

You can get farther and play better in a group setting...than solo (ala GW) A lot of mmorpgs are better experienced in groups, what anyway, I think as a good point.

Has an underlying story...like GW I love what I experienced so far in the AoC Open Beta. An underlaying story is a good thing.

So, I think they took all the MMO boredom out, and turned it into a really good "Coop Online RPG"

Thoughts? Maybe ;)
