No it isn't any kind of bug,  Mez powers stack, usually mezzes are around mag 3 with a 50 mez protection being around 10-11...  He's just mad because somehow he managed to get through the game without being Mez'd.. And now that he is he thinks the world is coming to an end... Or something

The power grants Mez resistance which means you can take a few mezzes.. What he wants is a power that prevents mez altogether. Which would make PvP against a mez heavy class like a Controller or Dominator a one sided battle. It's just that most end level villains have some sort of mez in their attacks or may be a heavy mez class like the carnies, which may have 4-5 Lt's that can mez you, and he is taking the aggro from the group what else would he expect?

Even in a comic or Cartoon, [insert godly villain here] may not be held by a single hero but if enough of them focus their powers on him they could bind him (Mez) Doesn't seem like too hard of a concept to understand... but he doesn't seem to get it...

I want to never be mez by minions/lieutnants/bosses.  Not the same.  Again, PvP obviously screw PvE, as you main argument is solely about PvP!  Which is completely and totally irrelevant for a player as me.  I don't care if there is 1 or 50 lieutnants, they are not supposed to mez a dark batman, a dark superman, a dark powered tanking villain.

Err.. Ok.. Sure sounds like you never want to be mezzed to me.

Err...... Ok... Only one sentence in my entire post was about PvP... Doesn't see how that makes the entire thing about PvP.

50 Thug > Batman... 50 Super powered thugs > Superman...  50  Mezzing Lieutenants > You...

It sounds as though you'd prefer to play on "easy mode" with few challenges. Even on my hero tank defenders tend to pop Clear mind on me for mez protection when going into a Mob of Carnies... Without it they'd hold me... And it's always been that way. Just because you've had the grace of god not to be mezzed before doesn't mean it suddenly broke and somehow amazingly you're the only person in CoH who notices it... If it bothers you that much Roll A Blood widow... And you'll get 2 mez protection powers which almost guarantees you no mezzes.. Or a Wolf spider and you can get mez protection from lvl 1

It's not that he wants "easy mode," he just has an unrealistic expectation for what a character should be able to handle solo. In order to get enough enemies to stun a brute, he would have to be playing on a large, if not full, team. (And with the difficulty slider up.)

Yet he discounts their contribution to keeping him un-mezzed.

It's a fairly common response among non-casual players (who tend to be rather competant). Especialy those who have seen some of the extremes of what can be accomplished.

Nevertheless, it's incorrect. You shouldn't be able to get multi-person success on multi-person challenges from single-person contribution.

Nah it is not a bug.  The way the game work, the stun status is a stacking effect (mag 2+ mag 2 + mag 2 + mag 2 + mag 3 would beat a stun resist of 11, which is what most brutes have...so 5 minions/lieutnants perfectly timed could stun any brute, the mag effect usually last on the target between 1-10 seconds for stacking purpose).  Eventually, if you stack enought of the weakest stun, you would stun anything.  Which, IMO, isn't acceptable.  A level 50 brute shouldn't be stunned by lowly attacks, no matter how many of these.  Especially in a game which is supposedly group-oriented.

 

See, casuals players and soloers won't see this at all.  But the ultra-endgame oriented players will see this, I am not even sure the devs themselves understand the issue.  The lack of understanding of some devs, if not all of them, still doesn't justify this design orientation.  It affect only 1% of the players, it is still a design mistake, shafting 1% or 100% of your players is a mistake regardless.

so, a level 50 brute shouldn't be able to have mez's stacked against him by lvl 50-53 npc LTs; but players should be able to stack mez's against AV/Hero-class NPCs in order to mez them...

you're talking about stacking weak stuns, not stuns made by weak enemies, but stuns with low magnitudes.  this is something that goes thru the entire game, you stacking stuns on enemies and enemies stacking stuns on you (or whatever kind of mez, and i'm talking npc-only for the enemies).

your argument is still, basically, flawed.  claiming to be in the uber of the uber top 1% of all players to ever play 'city of' does not make your argument any less flawed.

 

firstly - brutes are NOT tanks.  brutes are NOT tanks.  and brutes are NOT tanks.

if anyone should be complaining about needing more mez protection as they fill the tank role, it should be the class that was made as the tank counterpart -- mastermind.

 

i don't know why this thread won't die, i honestly don't.

i may not be one of the top 3 players in the 'city of' history, but i do have a number of level 50s and what you're arguing in this post, makes no sense at all.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

ROFL about alpha strike!  I never see 1 MM take the alpha strike in over a hundred of RSF.  I took it quite often and seldom died unless my group is wiped/wiping (after a few minutes of fight).  I see many other brutes take it, I even see a few stalkers take it.  But I never see a MM take it.  Oh, and guess what...I wasn't stunned there!  I would have expected to be stunned there if anywhere (not asking for it), but against normal mobs?  WTF!  This is lame.

 

 

 

Uhh, on my MM I can take the alpha, plus beta, re-bubble my team, pass off an inspiration to a needy team mate and already be on to the next spawn.  MMs can be good tanks if you know how to play them.  Hell you don't even need to know how to play them as long as you know how to use BG mode.

I love the MAG stacking system of CoV: strength in numbers put in effect in a very original and intricate way :)

I also loved MMs who are on top of their pets, best tanks ever (when needed, which sadly wasn't all that often because the game was/is still pretty easy: too easy when IOs come into play imo).
