The more I see about AoC the more I want to save my 40$ for Aion or Spellborn when they finally come out. War Im not to sure about... AoC is kinda sitting badly with me for various reasons.

Have you actually played the beta? I have and what a disapointment.  I felt like I was playing EQ all over again with the loading screens.   Graphics, quests, areas all unimpressive.

What really disapoints the most is taking a Great name "Conan" attatching it to a video game and unterally mucking it up.

No wonder Conan wore his crown on a troubled brow!

Sorry, but that is only your opinion, you are the minority, and frankly no one cares that you don't like a certain video game, get over yourself. Almost everyone I know loves the game, and is planning on buying it. That's not to say there isn't bugs and performance issues(this is beta, and we all know how bad beta>launch transisions are), but seriously grow up and go find a game you actually enjoy. No one will think less of you if you don't sit at your computer and bash age of conan, I promise.

Very nice political stance you have there.

KEAS players are often individuals who like to feel immersed in a virtual worlds and see themselves as a great villain or crusader within that world. They seek out challenges against other players, but they are going to find all the areas of that world. They'll often know about the best hiding places and ambush points

It would appear that there is some confusion as to what MMORPG's are all about.  Somewhere in that confusion...WoW has apparently ruined something in order to appeal to almost every last available gamer on the market?

I have a different theory...these raid games have ruined what MMO's are about.  They have turned what SHOULD be interactive worlds where each person is both an individual AND a member of a society into slot machines that you pay for in blood and time.  Oh, and you have to fill out applications (literally) to get into good guilds whom then dictate your time FOR you to play.

There is no living world...there is no society.  There is only the guild, and the raid, now.  We've traded off fluid virtual content for this stupid raiding crap.  Now all of my virtual society is locked away inside a boss room.  No butchers, no bakers, no candlestick makers to be found here.  They are all subsidized into their guilds and dominated by the time restrictions placed by its high council.  The only time you see these players is when they are standing around towns waiting for the next raid...showing off.  They aren't interacting at ALL.  Or, worse, you find them at the wrong end of their epic weapons in what Frankenstien monster form of PvP the game has....further removing the interaction, because they don't NEED to interact with you.  You are weak, and useless, unless you are a slave to their system.

EQ can die in a fire for what I care.  Their ideal of what an MMO is has ruined any hope of seeing what an MMO can truly be.

The voice of sanity lost in the crowd

I have been writing pretty much the same thing for years.

The battle for actual MMORPG's was lost a long time ago, the old guard is gone now. It's funny how all of these games are based on a single mechanic these days. Kill your 10 rats then raid.

MMO's will continue to become more compartmentalized, more specialized and more cost effective (instancing) I'm also predicting micro payment driven opposed to monthly sub. Pretty much the opposite of what they started as.

Most people don't realize that your video card is going to be the main issue when it comes to AoC, if you have a x1300  you could play on medium settings. Trust me, I know :(

FYI, my spec is:

AMD athlon 64 x2 4600

4 gigs pcr4200 ram(CHEAP ram)

512 mb radeon x1300 overlocked.(2-3 year old card..)

guess what? I run on medium settings at around 30-40fps.

This is wrong, i have a better system then you all around and i have crappy performance on low settings. I ve said it a million times it s random on what systems it will run well on. They have ALOT of work ahead of them if they plan on a decent release.

It's looking very good for WAR, the more I look at it, the more I feel WAR will be a huge succes, I mean by the milions, maybe a few milions but that's a lot, maybe really hurting WOW if it is good enough. Sadly by good I mean appealing to the masses, this is the only fear I have.

... he he he ha ha ha HA HA HA

The very lastest version of AOC (patched) looks awesome, runs smooth and is incredible fun.

I think the light for WAR just turned red. Mythic really has a challenge now.

I am playing AOC on a Dell m1730 with dual 8800gtx and the 9000 extreme processor with a steady 8mb connection and playing capture the flag was unplayable - 5 - 15 fps. Worse than SWG used to be, worse than EQ2 at highest settings. Very disappointing. The released product needs to be much better if it wants to be a success.

I am a little put off by the lack of movement during melee animations too, I felt stuck to the ground, unable to dodge, or run around the player as I attacked. Not to mention the camp cloaks and the terrible voiceover. when the flag is captured/dropped.  Plus, the flag sticking out of the back of the player as he runs with it. Come on, are there really no other ideas they can think of for fun pvp?

sigh... next! > war...
