There is just so much about the game to love and I'm really enjoying an MMO again when I was beginning to wonder if I would. Also it wasn't my first MMO, so it's not because of that.

They have added a lot more you can do solo, but the game is still at it's heart a game for grouping and I just feel that that helps to make the community stronger. It doesn't take long before you're bumping back into players you've already grouped with and people get to know you.

Even though I'm still a long way from where I was when I left I'm not feeling stressed or rushing. Most games I get caught in this mad rush to max level but in FFXI I'm just happy to enjoy the world.

Coming back to this game I'd forgotten how common it is that other players give you helpful buffs and stuff just 'cos they can. This happens in all games but in FFXI it seems to happen all the time. Obviously there are idiots playing this game (I guess) but I see so many more helpful people. I think it's remained a genuinely friendly and altruistic MMO.

Although I may try other games I'm not leaving again soon.

I couldn't agree more, well said.

The only thing in that statement that differs from my own experiences over the last few years, is the bit about there being "idiots" in the game, I agree that there must be some around, but try as I might I have not been able to find one in over two years on Leviathan.

Not even so much as a smart assed comment, rude remark, nothing.

The community is unmatched in FFXI, you simply cannot find a better game to play if you are looking for an adult environment shared by people with interests in the Final Fantasy series similar to ones own. People are constantly going out of there way to setup parties or what have you, all for the benefit of someone who might not have a character as developed as someone elses.

JP Players have been great to me as well, no complaints there, and I haven't seen an elitist attitude since I started playing in 06. Its been a really great experience, and is a game I will continue to play for years to come, because it remains exceptionally unique in a sea filled with mmorpg clones and poor attempts at releasing a new, unique game.

It truly is a breath of fresh air as far as mmorpgs are concerned.

Something a lot of people missed on here.I think we all can agree an MMO should be about grouping.

However others are also correct when saying it is TOO SLOW in the way it goes about it.If you have 6 friends and want to do things together,it may be near impossible because of time schedules.Once you start outlevelling your friends the XP spread gets worse and worse until you have to eventually wait till your even again.

There is something else in grouping that i have easily figured an answer too but they have not. This shows there knowledge into forced grouping needs some input and work, they obviously havn't learned anything over the years.

First up you could COPY EQ2's mentor system, wih allows ANY level player to level down to the others level so they can XP together and efficiently, and best of all still level and play alongside your friends.THis is just one idea.

The other idea is a flaw in there SEEKING for party system. You can ONLY seek for a job you are on at the present time, that is such a flawed system it isn't even funny. They should have a seeking for party message board of some kind that allows players to post several jobs they would be interested in.THis way when some one wants to start a party they would get 20x more selections to choose from instead of JUST the players who are presently listed on there paladin[example]If you stil lhavn't followed what i am saying then imagine that same paladin was allowed to post on a board he is willing to level his PLD or DRK or nin or whm or rdm. That gives you a hella lot more choices than JUST his PLD.

I have posted just two very simple chances for them to keep there game intact, therefore not changing anything for the die hards, yet improves the flawed seek system to wich MANY complain about.

There are many other flaws that i am sure everyone who has played can agree such as very few levelling zones.Anyone that says they havn't on several occasions run into over croweded xp zones is a liar.It was far worse in the old days when there was a very active levelling crowd and many more players.Level 52-54 is brutal. You can try to force into colibri at 54 but remember there wasn't even an AHT urghan before.same goes for the mandys in the jungle ,at one time there wasn't even a jungle to level in.This area needed more work as far as i am concerned.(90% level in korrolka tunell till they can ALL goto quifim..lol ya you know we all do it cus the choices are slim and weak.AHT urghan helped the 55+ zones ,but giving XP bonus really dumbed the game down and virtually eliminated the old XP zones. There reasoning was ONLY because they wanted players to use the new zones NO OTHER REASON,they said so.

Someone mentioned REALISM,i agree to that and applaud any game that tries to show realism and not 500 mph sword swinging and 500 kills in 2 minutes. But using the fishing system as an example of realism?? cmon let's be truthful it doesn't even have a fish in it's animation, that's not realistic or very good. They have added some player input into it but not much and still needs a lot of improvement before it could be called realism.

FFXI is my fave game also, but lets be realistic when you try to debate something. You shouldn't just beat  there answer down because they don't candy coat your favourite game or say what you WANT to hear.

I would also bet the majority would like to see mounts in FFXI maybe even swimming or at least the ability to cover the terrain by jumping or climbing whatever ,something a little more  "REALISTIC" a term i see being used.

Final Fantasy XII still remains unconvincing due to the fact that it's still pay to play and that i tell you sucks.

EMM...XII is not an mmo...

and p2p ftw....

you have enough f2p....no need to moan...

I'm not moaning it''s just when they made a good looking game like this Square made it impossible for me to play by making it a pay to play, And let me tell you this i really do admire this game so much that id want to play it but i can't cuz it costs to much for me to handle.

$12/m is not that mush :p try saving it up :p it will be worth it :)

Thanks for your help there TheGreyMan and i must say when i tried out the 30 Day trial it was good.

Well I'm trying again, rolled a RDM on Odin. So far it's been fun, the combat system is pretty good...even with the limited abilities I have. I've been impressed that complete strangers toss heals regularly at me, seen this happen in other games, but not to the same extent as in this game...bodes well for the community. I've gone through the online tutorials, but still don't have the mastery of using the translator, and the auction house will take some study on my part to figure out.

I do like the more relaxed pace, though the starter area in Windhurst was a little crowded last night, hard to get dc or em mobs. At least I earned enough gil to get my Cure spell so that helps a lot.

a majority of the overcrowding I learned in the starter areas is because of the lottery that starts on the 16th!  Your char has to be lvl 5 to buy a ticket for it, so everyone is raising their mules to lvl 5 to participate!

100,000,000 gil or chances at a choice of some of the best items in game is a damn nice lottery!
