I''m not creative enough to have a quote

Simple question:  Do you think the MMO market ia too saturated for new MMOs to survive like Age of Conan?

For instance, do you think AoC would do <better/worse> if it was released a few years <earlier/later>?  What would have to happen to the MMO market now and in the future for AoC to be <more/less> successful?

A close to Flawless launch, good gameplay, innovative ideas, and hype is all a MMO needs to prosper.

Even if the Market is saturated with MMO's, most of us know that the current Saturation is nothing more than saturation, as in we know what is garbage and what isn't.

I think right now is the perfect time for the release. People have been playing the current mmo's for awhile now and it's time for some new ones. Not that there is anything wrong with the ones out right now.. but they have been out for awhile and I think this will do very well.

Even in regards to just the "good" MMOs and not the garbage ones (yes, that very subjective), do you think that there are just too many out there that its hard to keep them up and running?  I mean, if there X-number of people willing to sub to MMOs and Y-number of MMOs, there just isn't enough people to make every "good" (again, very subjective) susccessful?

You can't put an Arby's, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy's, White Castle, In & Out, Sonic, Subway, Quiznos, and KFC on the same street corner and ALL have them successfull even though they are good restaurants by themselves.  Is that where we are right now in regards to the MMO Market?

Also because more people should have upgraded PCs by now.

Sure you can... do you eat at Wendy's everyday or do you mix it up with the others?

Regardless of what's on the menu, people will want to go somewhere different now and then.

Leave me alone.

If you haven't noticed, the mmo market has grown a lot in the past 3.5 years.  There's room for ,more(if they don't suck).

A good rule of thumb I think is to plan on the majority of players playing these games with whatever they can buy from Wal-mart or Best Buy. I don't think the majority of the population has caught up to AoC's graphics. Considering how long computers are lasting these days, which isn't long, I'd think that most people would have whatever an average machine was 3 years ago. I probably upgrade more often than the average computer/internet user and I just now updated to Vista and a 8000 series graphics card.I bet most others are still in the 5000 or 6000 series, with the more hard core having a 7000 series. The fact is that these newer MMORPG companies are designing games that only game enthusiasts will be abe to run. It is better to design for the average consumer, so that you will have more revenue and an easier time providing great performance for all players.

MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC & SWG
