3870X2 isn't actually 2 cores, it is 2 3870 GPU's crossfired on a single PCB. So yes it is Crossfire but it is an internal Crossfire.

yup

i meant 2 core on one board :p

"Eye for an Eye"

So Far :

Very bad operformance on any settings

the game completely locks up and crashes when going near more then 5 people

The graphics are gorgous but wasted in the games performance issues

The atmosphere is  more like a looney toon island then a brutal world of conan

The Animations for the Ai Poor , making Vanguard look good

Player animations are above average but again wasted in over all performance

The character and npc interaction is good , but you can click through it just like you would a text quest, I feel if they would dump the voices and make all the quests text they could increase the performance as well as reducing the client size by 30%.

The feel of the combat feels like any other combat , I've yet see any use of the mouse movement , the combo system is quite nice giving the game a mortal combat kind of arura.

Blood looks completely fake and is not really worth any cvalue, reducing the blood would make it less Requiem-ish.

The sky map ? still looking for it....

the UI feels cluddered and I continuously click on invisible tool bars messing uup my control of the camera.

Seriously laughed my ass off at all the people who are waiting for this game, it is a low to mid grade title that will have poor performance at launch and will suffer from dishonesty throughout the community  that tried to hide the performance issues up to launch.

Funcom has saved face though with having a ompletely open beta and souly leaves the purchase in the hands of the sonsumer... If I was desperate for a new game and trusted in funcom enough to I wpould by this game, but given Funcoms track record with Ao, I would not expect improvements for atleast 6months to 1 year.

That is nmy honest opinion on the game from my computer, we will see if my opinion will change when my ram comes.

You fail to show what drivers you have used

You failed to show if you have tried the shader cache delete trick

You have failed to show if you have anything running in the background (AV? Antispyware?)

I did not see mention of what sound card, motherboard?

There are a lot of caveats here which makes me question your motives.

Examples of quotes

"The feel of the combat feels like any other combat ,"

Can you tell me what other MMO based game has active blocking, movement buffs and decapitations and fatalities that makes it like other MMO's??

"the game completely locks up and crashes when going near more then 5 people"

In YOUR situation. There could be a multitude of issues here, but we do not know what exactly..Also, did you mean NPC's? or Players?

"The Animations for the Ai Poor , making Vanguard look good"

This I know is a joke...if you have played LOTRO, then you understand bad animation...and as for Vanguard...the new models are a joke also.

"The character and npc interaction is good , but you can click through it just like you would a text quest, I feel if they would dump the voices and make all the quests text they could increase the performance as well as reducing the client size by 30%."

Rendering it JUST LIKE every MMO in existence, and then NO ONE would read the text...then we would have channels full of "Where is this guy"..(because I did not read the text quest, and just clicked ok and accepted my kill 10x quest)

I know you played LOTRO, and it is also story based...just walls of text compared to AoC...and as well, performance is based on user experience, you need to share more info if you wish to get some help on issues..I remember trying for months to get the hitching fixed in LOTRO...but according to the forums, it was something in MY setup...guess this is the same...just I happen to have 3 computers all different variations...all running AoC quite well. Animation is miles above LOTRO or Vanguard, and model visuals and landscapes are on par or better in some cases (Women were just plain ugly in VG and LOTRO)...

But...these are each of our opinions...

Anyone else want to discuss?

Default Open Beta - Update from Game Director on Known Issues + Proven Fixes

Hello Everyone!

First off! Thank you very much for your great input and terrific feedback so far, it really helps us to identify issues and make the game much better for launch. Due to the incredible push we have seen the last hours I wanted to inform you about the biggest annoyances some of you have experienced so far – and what we are doing about them.

I want to say that it seems to me that most people are really enjoying the gameplay despite some technical issues. This is great news to me, but this is not the focus for this update, rather I just want to say “We see, we learn, we hear and we are fixing issues!”

Stalling

Some people call it “lagging”. Some people call it “hanging”. We have named it “stalling” internally, so that is what I am going to call it. This is the experience where the client hangs for some fraction of a second up to some seconds. This is, almost without exception, run-time compilation of shaders (a shader is “slang” for code running on the graphics card). This is a known issue, we have identified where we need to fix things, and we are working on a solution.

The best way to minimize these stalls is to set the rendering options to one of the “presets” (low, medium or high). Tweaking the rendering settings manually, increase the chance of stalls. Our recommended low, medium and high have some more previously compiled shaders, so it should be better. It won’t be stall-free though, not until the final version is out! If you have a worse experience in Tortage Day, than Tortage Night – this is most likely the case.

If you struggle with performance generally, turn on LOW settings. This includes Shader model 2 shaders, disabling “bloom” and has a short viewdistance. This helps a lot. Turn the viewdistance up again in the settings if you want to see more of the world after you do this…

If you experience stalls remember that you are testing beta-code. Getting data from you is our way to make the launch experience so much better for everyone.

Zoning or loading times

Differently from the stalls, this issue does not happening to everyone. This issue is actually new to Open beta. It does not happen on the closed beta. We are patching closed beta with the exact same code / data as we speak, so we can try to find the reason. Be patient and we shall prevail here too

Memory leaks

Your client running out of memory happens gradually, especially from zoning. By restarting the client, you should be fine for some time depending on your system. We have a host of fixes for this on its way to you, and we aim to update this in a day or two. Every time the client crashes, we get a message that helps us better understand the issue. What you are doing is terrific work that will enable us to fix this!

And then again, some are not experiencing any of this at all.

On behalf of the whole Funcom Conan Development team working around the clock,

Gaute Godager

Known and proven fixes for current problems

Set affinity to one core (especially for AMD dual core processors)

Task Manager - Processes - right-click on the AoC exe, choose affinity and set to one. Should improve your performance by 50% if you´re having problems.

Note: Some AMD processors have an inherent timing problem which affects certain apps. It´s been noted that AoC Open Beta IS affected. If you´re experiencing around and below 10 FPS, YOU are affected and should tend to it.

Delete shader.cache files.

Go to your AoC folder and delete all the shader.cache files, no other files. Should help from crashing and give a smoother. experience

Turn off Bloom

In your video options, turn off Bloom. Should give you 25% higher FPS.

Downscale to shader model 2.0

In your video options, turn it from 3.0 to 2.0. Will increase performance greatly and stop crashes.

Misc. reported fixes, unvalidated

Turn your Fog Distance first to 120m (unless 120 at default), click apply then set it to 100m and re-apply. Should give an FPS boost. (Reported by Saorsa)

Set your shadows to "Simple"/"From Character Only" or just turn them off. Will help eleviate "meshy" edges and smaller stalls in the client. (Thanks to Nymph for the reminder)

Assertion Error Fix: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=80655 (Thanks to Colbert and the IGN users)

tried all that.

Using the Latest drivers for my Nvidia 8800GT

Checke dmy bios to make sure everything was correct and did a full registy clean as well as a disk defrag,

The only thins that is failing is this game, on my pc.

Vanguard and Lotro run pretty well, but this game just doesn't want to run for me, no matter how much the fanboys scream it runs great, it just is not helping mme on my end.
