"My soul finds rest in God alone: My salvation comes from Him."

- Psalms 62:1

I spent the last few days downloading the beta client and got it running finally, I went into the game and didn't have one problem. Last night I played about 1-2 hours and I never found even one bug. This game seems pretty good to me, dunno if it deserves all the hype it has but I will be playing for a while. The combat system leaves something to be desired, and seems like it could get boring but I am assuming once you get into upper levels there is going to be more variations. The graphics are amazing, I have the settings turned all the way up to the max at 1680x1050 resolution(AA at 6x) and still average 30-45fps. My computer is pretty decent, but not the best one out there(not sli, upper-mid video card, not a quad cord, and only 2gb of RAM which will change friday :)).

the problem is that for every computer, the game seems finicky on how it will run. Me personally, my load time/hangups/crashes have been getting worse and worse. So bad in fact, that i had to abandon 1 character in the tavern altogether. I created a new toon, game ran terrific!!!!!! for about 1 hour, maybe 1.5 hours (played it on medium settings with bloom and shadows on, was doing terrific!), then BOOM! again lag monster hit with a vengeance at around lvl 4. (yes yes i know....it took me 1 hour to get to level 4....was also feeding my kid intermittently prior to putting him down for the night)

Then i went to reload the game, restarted my computer, and then tried to log back in. After 10+ minutes of waiting for the initial screen to load, i restarted again, turning it to low and no bloom, and got hung up twice after selecting my character.

This morning, tried again, didn't reboot or anything...and it ran fine again.

The client's stability is just terrible on my computer....not something i would be looking forward to at launch.

I am thinking the 8800GT is going to be THE card to recommend for this game for several reasons

It runs the game the best out of the various models of the same caliber (same memory size, etc..like the 3870, the GTS60 old model 8800, etc..)

And is pretty darn cheap

EVGA with 30 buck MIR = 189.00 + ship

Have you tried the delete shader files, and run directly from the AoC client fix?

Seems to be helping a ton of people...

Also, what driver version and OS?

Hmm these problems may be caused by something overheating.  Check to make sure all fans are running and clear of any dust buildup.  The last time I experienced problems like this I was running Oblivion.  I checked all of the guts of my computer only to find out that my CPU fan had died.

Well anybody can come on here and complain that the game is crap and doesnt run well etc etc

And may quote any type of PC spec and may well be lying for all we know.

The bottom line is the game has trumendous potential and even if it has bugs(as every games does) they will no doubt get sorted out.

There are a lot of people out there that know squat about PCs and expect wonders on dead or almost dead PCs!

Normally, we do not so much look at things as overlook them.

Has anyone here run AoC on the new GeForce 9 series (9600 GT etc.) and if so what were your results?

View all problems as challenges. Look upon negativities that arise as opportunities to learn and to grow. Don't run from them, condemn yourself, or bury your burden in saintly silence. You have a problem? Great. More grist for the mill. Rejoice, dive in, and investigate.
