Most people will buy the game based on what they've seen or their friends recommend.  Regardless of whether they release with a great version or not.  ATM, the version that most people are looking at totally sucks.  And, to those like myself that are reading all this garbage because we are trying to figure out if our computers will be able to handle the game, it LOOKS very much like the recommended hardware is really the MINIMUM requirement to play the game.  I have yet to hear a fanboi say 'ONE GIG RAM IS PLENTY' etc etc.

So, information I've seen so far says:

AoC is very graphically beautiful.

AoC graphics make immersion incredible.

AoC is not an open game; AoC is, overall, a path-like world...very linear.

AoC is an end-game copy of Shadowbane/DAoC.

Funcom is lying about computer requirements; your computer MUST meet 'recommended' requirements just to be 'playable'.

Funcom has a history of failing at release.

Funcom did not have an Open Beta(very worrying).

Funcom's current Betas are having performance issues.

Things have been so bad that NO ONE is talking about classes and game content because AoC performance, lack of Open Beta, and alot of misdirection has caused the community to prioritize to 'is the game even playable?' a week before release.  Instead of Class Information and Game Content.

A few problems with what you said:

AoC is not an open game.. UP TO LEVEL 20. Unless you are somehow playing a different client than the rest of us, in which case good job, you just broke the NDA.

AoC is NOT an endgame copy of Shadowbane and/or DAoC. You've never played it to end game.

Funcom is not lying about computer requirements. I play this game with an 8800, 2gb ram, 1.67 dual core and I have very minor problems while playing on medium (occasional stutters, that's it).

...Funcom didn't have an Open Beta? Uh... what are most of us playing then?

This is trolling at its worse. I'm kinda sick of these forums nowadays... same old waste of time threads made by worthless trolls who think they are bringing something new to the trolling table.

I'm only stating the things that have been posted over and over in this forum.

An 8800 video card and 2GB ram is recommended, not minimum.  Which, again, states the case of the recommended requirements actually being the minimum requirements.  You really could have stated your case if you said,"I'm using a 256 ram card with 1 GB of ram and have smooth play and 40 to 60 FPS...albeit on low graphical settings".

Also, the only trolls in this thread are the ones yelling about trolls and posting replies about the negative things in the OP instead of the positive things.  Everything stated in the OP came directly from multiple posts in this forum.

Lastly, most current threads are about CLASS or GAME CONTENT?  I don't think so.  I have yet to hear a good update about classes.  The only thread in this forum about casters had no replies.  Unbelievable.  They should rename this forum from General Discussion to Technical Issues.

so why repeat them if you have nothing original to add?

There is plenty to like in this game; and the classes - while still in need of balancing - are fun.

His point was to bring light to the fact that ALL of the discussion going on here is about stability and major performance issues.  Normally, in a new MMO, you have loads of threads talking about the actual game or classes...something!  He wanted to point out that this game is having such large stability problems that no one even CARES about the classes or the balance between them.  This is NOT the norm.

Oh, easy one.  I compiled all the good things and all the garbage into one easy short post.  Now, people can stop talking about performance and beautiful graphics and get to .... yes, that's right .... General Discussion.

Overpowered classes?

Underpowered classes?

Game Content?

Casters vs Melee vs Healers?

Combat system likes, dislikes, and fixes?

etc etc etc.

On these boards maybe. But, to misquote the movie, these are not the boards you are looking for.

Suffice to say, that contention is inaccurate. The problem is that there was not an open non-NDA beta of sufficiently high level for people to have meaningful discussions about the classes.

You can fault them for that, but don't assume that if you don't know about something it must be all bad.

I assure you when the game comes out there will be plenty of discussion about classes. Feel free to wait and see what happens and buy the game then.

"Eye for an Eye"

Right now I could not recommend this to anyone with the "it may work on your computer" syndrome.

Right now I think it's worth a try.
