"The sad truth is that excellence makes people nervous. - Shana Alexander"

This is what our overview says:

What differentiates ‘The Chronicles of Spellborn’ from other MMORPG's?

Having your own virtual identity from the start and to grow this identity meaningful by:

  • Dress to impress: From day 1 you will be able to look cool by choosing and changing clothes, armors, weapons, skills.
  • Influencing the world with your actions: This ranges from lifelike statues of your character in Quarterstone to unlocking and owning new parts of the worlds through questing, politics and conquest.
  • ‘Join and play’, you don’t have to walk whole marathons before the fun starts.
  • ‘The Chronicles of Spellborn’ combat system based on skill decks. You will be able to create your own individual fighting style.

And if we check AoC's overview:

In this twisted fantasy world, dark magic and brutal combat lurks around every corner, and each man and woman must carve their own unique destiny under Conan’s reign. In the true vision of Robert E. Howard’s dark universe it’s now time for you to become a messenger of death.

  • Explore Hyboria, the legendary world of Conan, presented in incredible graphics and sound.
  • Emerge as a hero from a story-driven single-player experience and embark into even greater adventures in the multiplayer part of the game. The branching single-player story is created by the award-winning writers behind The Longest Journey, Dreamfall and Anarchy Online so expect a rare treat.
  • Experience Funcom’s revolutionary “Real Combat” engine. A new multi-point melee system allows the players to swing their weapons where they direct it, in real-time, going head-on against the formulaic nature of online RPG combat. Create player-made battle formations, and command both NPC’s and other players in epic multiplayer battles.
  • Form guilds in the multiplayer game and lay siege to hostile castles. Let the catapults sing their merry song of death as the enemy is brutally crushed to a pulp.

There's alot that isn't and are the same, but I really don't know which one to suggest.

I'm going to try AoC this week, and I think I will leave Spellborn.

Well, it depends on what kind of person you are. And what you enjoy. Obviously, Conan has more polish, but that doesn't actually do anything for me personally. I guess I'll be going for Spellborn because I actually do not enjoy beating people to a pulp and then hearing the lamentation of their women. I'm more of an explorer type. And you can look however you want in Spellborn, seems interesting. ------ edit: ------ Also, I know that you get immature people in all games, but there IS a definite and inverse relation to focus on violence and community. ATTID is completely non-combat, and they have the most amazing community I've ever seen. The ones that focus on gore and head-chopping (Requiem, AoC) generally have really insane/immature communities.

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

IM not sure you can compare the two adequatley to answer the question. They both seem very unique and place emphasis in different areas

"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand" - Randy Pausch

I would personally go with Spellborn.  The game is leveled through quests, interesting combat, decent graphics, just seems to grab my attention.

They are extremely different though, which makes it challenging to compare the two.

If this thread is still around in 5/6 months when TCoS is near to  releasing I will vote then.

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

wow AoC must've done something really really wrong for a commercial-indy-developer to get that many more votes.

granted it's no where near prime time now people who are on now must be sneaking internet time between doing something else or in a very different timezone(than me).

Many would be cowards if they had courage enough.

Tack a zero onto those numbers and you might have a closer estimate...

They have some interesting ideas for Spellborn.  IMO, it has the potential...just have to wait and see if the developers can avoid the usual MMO routine of watering their game down to a pile of soggy mediocrity in an effort to please the masses.
