As of right now I am 3 hours into my download of the beta, hovering about 24%.

My confusion lies in the PvP system, more specifically, with looting. I'm a firm proponent of the idea of open PvP looting. Obviously this joy lies in my bias of being a above average PvP player. I was known as one of the better mages on Ultima Online on my server for PvP, which I spent years of my life doing, and I moved onto WoW which I obtained the "amazing" 2k ratings in all brackets on my characters..however, my interest has recently died.

So this is where I am, downloading the open beta to a new game hoping it will solve my next PvP "fix." My issue is that no matter where I look I cannot find a single bit of information regarding what you loot when you kill a player in open world PvP. I'd love to know if its much like the UO system, which I absolutely loved, or the more simplistic (in my opinion bad) style like WoW.

If anyone has any information on this, or a link or what have you I'd love to know.

You don't loot anything from killing players in AoC.

Sounds like you're quite the griefer.

Anyway, there's no open PVP in the IGN Beta Client.  The 'true beta' testers could probably fill you in on the open PVP systems, but sadly they're under the NDA still.

I'm with you Tyrone on the open looting system with PVP.  I miss the days of UO where anything goes.  I'm anxious to see how AoC turns out, but from what I hear Darkfall (if it ever comes out) will be the fix that I am searching for.

Full PvP looting is on its way out for MMORPGs. No one wants to have their best items looted after dying in an MMORPG after spending several days of real time to advance their character.

Sorry guys, but full loot PvP in the current MMORPG market is a pipe dream. If they do decide to implement the blood coin system, that will be the only thing you can loot from killing players.

The idea of open looting goes along the lines of a system where end game doesn't involve hours of every night spent obtaining items. But regardless, thanks for the info.

Actually ruleset for FFA PvP server is not defined yet  there was much talk about some kind of looting ( beside blood coins) as there is huge hardcore pvp player base that wanna see it in Age of Conan.

 

Hopefully we will get some aditional info soon. ( RP PvP rule set was posted few days ago )
