Same here.

I'll give Vanguard a second look once a free trial is released, just to see how things have changed since I last played the game. Before then, I'm not all that inclined to play it. And it's nothing personal, either. I'm just busy dividing my time between CoH/CoV and LOTR and can't squeeze in another sub, so I'll just wait until the trial comes out.

Morpin I don't know all the devs by name either so who knows.  SOE might have added a few people, but the team is still pretty much what Sigil was already composed of except now there are just about 80 less of them.  SOE didn't perform some miracle by replacing them with their own staff or making changes enough that turned the team around.  My point is that imagine how much faster and/or more things would have been accomplished if there were 80 more people who already had working knowledge of the game.

The sigil team is who is doing the work fixing the game, just like they were doing prior.  Only now there are less of them and the best of the crop are either fired, quit or moved to new projects.  None of which I feel are actions worthy of giving faith in SOEs commitment to the game.

The game has come a long way and is actually fairly decent to play.  However I don't believe that the work Sigil did was commendable based on the product they put out and I don't think SOE did anything worthy of praise by slowing down what the Sigil team was already doing when they took over.  The sum of the last year is basically some performance increases, a raid dungeon and some of the more unique features removed (or put on indefinite hold).

All said and done the game is moving in a positive direction, but not one that is worthy of banding together as players in a joint effort to revive the game as the OP suggests doing.  That sort of actions overvalues the"commitment" put out by the company making the game.  The whole circular logic of the game isn't doing well so people should give it money so that it might do well isn't a winning move.  When SOE has enough faith in the game to put out a trial then it will be time for people to consider 2nd, 3rd, 4th looks at the game.

I've played it from Day 1 and whether it's brining over more experienced folks from their other games, better management, hiring a few key people.... or what.  But there is a night and day difference for the better once Sony took over.  They've communicated pretty well what they need to tackle first and why and to a large extent, they had to triage some potentially game breaking issues and at the same time where able to get new content into the game.

Looking ahead, and yes, it may be optimistic, but GU6 might be the turning point where the updates become more about new content than massive bug and performance fixes.... new raid dungeon, Galleons, fishing, AAs, Isle of Dawn, etc. etc.

What SOE talks about does sound promising and the game has flushed out after SOE put their brand on the game.  I personally thought both versions of the team did lots respective to the condition of the game as it was when they owned it.  I feel like a politician after saying that.

I have bought the ticket and took the train ride of SOE promises several times in the past and I know better than to put any faith in what they say vs what they deliver.  Promises are easy to make, but a lot more work to keep.

God made women because mens brains are broken.

You know what.  I did my very best to stand by this game.  I thought it had great potential and think it still does, but not as long as the people who are in cahrge of it remain in charge.   Instead of finishing the game they are to busy recoding it from the ground up.   Class rewrites after class rewrites, adding more mounts when we all ready have plenty!  There are premier dungeons that continue to be broken and neglected.   Quest that start and you cannot finish because they are broken.   Bugs that have been in since day one and have been constantly bugged remain just that - bugged!

Then instead of finishing the game and adding content that would make the game more fun to play...what do they do?  They just keep rewriting stuff and will continue to do so.   Sure the games performance has gotten better...but beyond that...it is an unfinished - unpolished game that will never see its potential under the current owners  -  SOE.

I originally bought this game because Sigil was in charge and not SOE.   Then SOE ended up with it any way and I was that close to canceling.  I should have because I know SOE and I knew they would screw this game up just like they have every game they touch.   I finally gave up.    That is the last SOE game I'll ever play again.

SOE has proven without a shadow of a doubt that they are totally clueless when it comes to MMORPG's.  May they forever rot in gamers hell,

I give this the "Three Strikes and You're Out" ruling.

I was with this game from beta and at it's release and it was horrible.

I stayed with it early on thinking they might make some improvements and they didn't.

I re-subbed about 2 months ago thinking SOE could come and rescue the drowning game and while it is better than it's nightmarish release it's still a game that's not ready for the big leagues and just cancelled my subscription again.

So unless they (SOE) pulls a rabbit out of their hat this game is pretty much on life support.

Considering this post was a plea to former players to rally the troops and come save the game I think Tealas post was spot on appropriate for this thread.

Keep in mind this is a game forum and NOT a game fansite.  These are not forums only for those who love a game and all else need not participate.  That is the beauty of discussion here.  There is plenty to learn from people who have a differing opinion.
