Ok....so the game is in Open beta? I thought open betas were available for anyone to play....not subscribe to a site...pay money..or win a contest to play in open beta. From what I've seen the game looks awesome, but I have a concern.

Will my pc be able to handle the game with enjoyable fps and graphics?

Im running an 64 bit AMD 3800+ dual core @ 2.1ghz 2gb of 533mhz ram 250gb maxtor hd and a 6800GT 256mb video card.

Im not looking to run the game on max settings.......and if I can't even run the game on low settings what is the point of me wasting my 60 bucks for the game. Yes I would be really disappointed because i've been following this games development for over  a year or so now.

waiting to see what people say after launch.Atm i am a bit skeptical about buying a game where  we are not permitted to "see" all the features or content.

makes me feel there something to hide.

While i know funcom capable of new ideas from AO, i am getting this deja vu feeling about them .

In AO i too got burned by believing them when they said this was not final version right to the end of beta, that is was stress tests, that there plenty of hidden content we have not seen.

Sorry but as an old time player i seen them say the exact thing before .Hopefully this time they are been sincere but i been burned before.

I wait till a few weeks after launch then decide .

We can only look to our past to gain experience.  Waiting for a few weeks is a sound idea.

Aye.Call me stupid but i already have vanguard,Tabula Rasa and auto assault(now even cancelled) that i bought on a leap of faith because i liked the ideas behind  them sitting on my shelves for the looks.

I rather wait and see what the general community think of it after launch .Few weeks will not kill me.If its good then i have loads of fellow noobs to run with in 1 month's time as word of mouth travels fast.

If it has a generally bad review then i saved myself some agony.I am not in a super guild or super levelling to hit max level.I  left that crazy ambition long ago haha.

It is all vaporware until I see it go live!

You are mistaking an Open beta with a free trial.  Funcom's open beta meets the accepted definition of what an OB really is.  Whether you pay for it, or if anyone can join are not actually criteria for one.

From what I've seen, you are correct in not buying the game based on your rig specs until you get a chance to do a free trial.  It might not run that well for you.

I did not pre-order.

I will not be buying this game.

First, I am not sure I have ever seen an open Beta this bad. The game is nowhere near release, or we are not seeing the "real" game.

It doesn't matter anyway, the whole "feel" of it is just boring as hell. I immediately found myself really not engaged or caring at all about whatever quests there was going on.

B O R I N G game (for me anyway).

Ditto.  It's hard to care about quests, character progression or anything.  Totally undramatic.  Conan deserves better.  OH well, let's see how bad warhammer screws up their IP.

I repeat: performance issues get fixed AFTER the beta, and beta testers are supposed to report bugs, not just play the game... Looks like Funcom didn't do a good job picking their testers...

You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.

You can repeat it all you like, old son, but this close to release, it doesn't hold much water.  I'm sure, except for alpha and some of early closed beta, they didn't "pick" testers.  They're chosen randomly by a program.

Also... just wondering... I was on Amazon this morning and did the preorder CE already sell out?  I saw them listed for $200, by private people.  A quick google seems to indicate there are no more for sale from retailers.  I wonder how many they made?

My Aggro brings all the mobs to the yard.

I have tried it "the open beta" on multiple machines now, both under XP and Vista on a variety of PCs all exceeding the required specs.  I have tried on both ATI and Nvidia and still get terrible results on all of the four machines that I have tried it on.

I had high hopes about AoC but there is no way I am going to pay $50 for yet another terrible launch.   I have learnt my lesson from V:SoH, Tabula Rasa and PotBS.   I am sick and tired of throwing money at the so called Next Gen MMOs that run like glue even on high end systems..

I repeat my saying that this is the worst beta I have been in.  It makes Vanguard and Tabula Rasa look like polished works.   Funcom is about to prove that they do not deserve to be in the MMO business.   I highly expect that within 6 months it will have about the same subscriptions as Vanguard.

I sure hope that WAR and/or Stargate Worlds actually manage to pull off their launches because if theirs goes no better than AoC's is looking like right now pretty much the MMO industry is going to lose it's current mainstream gaming numbers.

I was so hoping that AoC would pull me away from WoW but looks like it will not be able to.   Too bad.
