Once a SWG vet always a SWG Vet.

http://www.massively.com/2008/05/02/the-battle-of-hoth-is-coming-to-star-wars-galaxies/

If I am not mistaken this is one of the first patchs that actually fits close to when the NGE supposedly takes place. I'm also sure that more nerfs will also be incoming. And that we all will and should bitch about how bad the instance will be. IMHO I agree with the other poster in that forum and that Hoth should be a full planet not just some other 20 min instance. Still this may just be evidence of SCE taking the reins...or it could be another Smed carrot/stick/gun-to-his-own-nuts strategy.

SWG is like meeting the hottest chick of all time and then have her give you every STD in the book and then she dresses a monkey up like a baby sues for child support and the judge says yes

Of course Hoth should be a planet instead of a cookie-cutter instance but I doubt the current dev team knows how to create new planets.

Don't worry OP.

I'm sure SoE/SCE will find a way to cheapen the Hoth experience - like a cameo of the ghost of Jar-Jar, or something else equally unrelated to timeline and/or location.

How can you visit Hoth before ESB takes place?

This is just as outside the timeline as all the KOTOR/Clone Wars stuff,  unless they advanced the story forward (which they aren't doing).

The article is nothing more than typical lazy industry "reprint a press release as a story" "journalism".

I encourage everyone who doubts the word of those who reject the NGE to try it for themselves. http://tryswg.com

Experience for yourself a combat system that doesn't work, a broken UI...

It was after EP 5 "The Empire Strikes Back" So the base on Hoth should be a big hole in the ground, not even steaming anymore. What's there? some burnt out AT-ATs, A Wampa with one arm hiding out in his cave? Some remains of a few, Rebels and Imperials?

Didn't we already see this Hoth in Jedi Academy?

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Probably more true than we could ever imagine.

expect to see:

Introduction of Jar-Jar to Hoth:  Hoth has long since been a vacation spot for Gungan's.

Hoth was once a lush, water based world.  Due to the route the planet travels around the star... nearly the entire planet freezes while furthest away form their solar system's sun(s).

Large amount of aquatic life at the 'inner-core', where the planet is still warm and the water isn't frozen.

Huge Gungan party at 'the inner-core'.  (yeah, more gungans!)

Eventual 'polar-ice cap melting' storyline as the planet gets closer to their sun(s).  (Al Goregun will be represented as a scientist here).

...

Twin-Ion Bob-sleds and/or Polar Pod Racers will be released with the expansion.

The original timeline was between ANH and ESB (Right?  It's so hard to be sure these days . . )  That should mean the rebels are scouting the planet for their new base or even started constructing it.

Not sure what excuse Imps will have to be there, but I don't really care anymore.

"...you mean three philippino women."

Om Nom Nom

The timeline has not been advanced.  The game takes place just after A New Hope.  Valara made a post on the official forums stating something about how they just wanted to allow people to experience Echo Base and that the timeline is not being advanced.
