If you want me to tolerate you being a fag you also must tolerate me being a bigot.

With the release of newer games and the exponential PC requirements, I don't feel games are good enough to warrant me plunking down $1500 every year or 2 just to be able to play a game (MMO or otherwise).  Assassin's Creed, Age of Conan for 2 examples... both have very high system requirements if you want the game to look as it is intended (or even load).

Console games on the other hand, may lack features of PC games (or may not) but at least I know for dang sure the game I get for a console will run just fine.  I can spend $1000 and get both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 and be able to play every game that comes out for those consoles.  Already have a 47" 1080p TV so that is a non-issue there.

Make games that are fun, not graphically overloaded games that are pretty to look at but totally boring to play.

Assassin's Creed

Minimum spec

Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card
HDD Space: 12GB
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0

Recommended

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better
RAM: 3GB
Video Card: 512 MB Card
Sound Card: 5.1 Sound Card
HDD Space: 12GB
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0

To be brutally honest, the minimum spec aint that high by todays standards.  I mean, I've had my system for over a year (4800+, 2 Gb Ram and 8800GTX) and ignoring the graphics card, it falls well above the minimum spec.

Its unfortunate but there comes a time when owning a pc, that you must upgrade.

Some people dont find this acceptable which I can understand to some degree.

I have 3 PCs, one is up to date and the other 2 are a little behind the times but not by much simply because I can only use one at a time efficiently anyway.  It is very simple minded of you to say that I don't understand the need to upgrade or that I am broke.

But to clarify for you that I do understand computers I will let you know that I have been building my own PCs probably before most of you were born and did it commercially in a business that I started and have since sold (for more than you will make in your lifetime).  And as for being broke... all I can say is LOL, no really... ROFL.   I spend money wisely, it's probably why I have what I have.

Assassin's Creed is a poor example since it runs like shit even with the recommended specs. In a few years you won't notice so much because we'll have systems that can run the 360 emulator that the game is apparently being filtered through. Anyway....

It is still a craps shoot as to whether a game will run or not. My computer is a single core antique, but it still runs UT3 at 30FPS in 720p. Yet for some reason, it chokes on Far Cry. This is the main reason why I won't buy a PC game that doesn't have a demo. I'm not going to drop my cash only to find out that the damn thing won't run.

And yes, the extra cash that I spend to add gaming to the list of things my computer can do is abso-fucking-lutely ridiculous. I may use my computer for other things, but I don't need two 512Mb graphics cards (SLI), 4Gigs of DDR2 memory, a quad core CPU and a water cooling system to download porn off of the internet. Much better to just buy a console and be done with it...

Well, you actually have to buy two consoles if you want a decent selection of games... On the other hand, that's still 10X the number of releases than the PC gets....

A few years ago, I turned my back on PC gaming, got all 3 consoles and settled for a mid end PC, which is enough to run the vast majority of MMORPG's, and I haven't looked back. You simply get so much more bang for your buck as far as games are concerned when you switch to console gaming.

I still recommend getting a mid end PC over a console if MMORPG's are your one and only passion but for those who look for other genres I can't recommend console gaming enough.

Currently playing:
Phantasy Star Universe
Looking forward to:
The Agency, DC Universe, Aion

I have 2 PCs, 1 very old which I don't upgrade at all, and 1 mid-range.  I play nearly all games well, including Assassins Creed on High.  Only a bad PC developer wouldn't take into consideration the average lower middle-class family.

I've been rather unsatisfied with console gaming this time around..they've taken up the old approach of PC markets..tons of games..little quality...and what few games are coming out are all the same thing with new skin..another shooter...another sports game..etc etc...the only current generation game machine I even shelled money out for was the Wii and while I feel Im definitly getting my money's worth out of it...I've seen little worth in investing several hundred to nearly a thousand dollars in a PS3 which is a huge disappointment for Playstation gamers...or an Xbox360 since they still have the red ring of death problem due to over heating caused by insufficient air flow by bad design.

I loved my PS2...I had tons of old games and new games..mostly RPG's to play but there seems to be little of that on the PS3..and XBox has always had very few choices in the RPG market...though I did thoroughly enjoy Fable.

Atleast with PC's when you build it yourself you know what your getting and you can make sure it works.  I'll be sticking with my PC as my machine of choice...but then I use my pc for alot more than gaming.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

I agree, the thing i have noticed most about the consoles with the last gen and this gen is the distinct lack of quality platformers. Consoles used to be great for games like Mario, Spyro, Croc, Banjo Kazooie ect, now they seem to be focused mainly on shooters with some rpg games and any platformers that do come out seem to be severly lacking in quality.
