I know a website or some journals doesnt make a game, but i think it helps somewhat. Without hating or bashing the games, which one do you prefer, which one is amateur. Journals Warhammer - Monthly Darkfall - Bi-weekly
Age of Conan - Weekly

well its kind of unfair comparison, as Warhammer and AOc is gonna win hands down for information, news, development progress, and of course the visual quality and organization, and navigation of the site is high quality. Realize though df has a much smaller funding budget, and dev team. though the fact that DF site is basic doesnt necessarily mean a bad thing if the information is...well informative. but in the end i think you cant really compare given how Darkfall is so "mum's the word" on the development of the game, so your not going to get a huge amount of information from them, let alone the current state of the game both in context and visually with screenshots. in the end if i could compare them all at once AOC, Warhammer and then DF in that order as far as what they offer visually, nagivation, its layout, information etc. |

I'am sorry but Darkfalls website looks like it was built by an 8'th grader just learning photoshop.... The UI design work is horrible.. you can barely read the fonts without squinting.... most of it has completely outdated info.... it's rarely updated.. Does this look like a company who is serious about putting out a game? A games website represents the quality of the company and the product.. Darkfalls website is a joke.

I do not like judging a games development by a website, never have and never will. A game's website is to give information on the game, nothing more nothing less. If it's a game I am interested in, the last thing I will do is look at the web design. The web design should be the last on anyone's mind when they are looking for an interesting game. Just because a site is not well designed does not mean that the game will not be good. Perhaps they do not have a web designer on the dev team yet, no big deal Let's face it. A site is not really important, the game is all that matters. I would rather them work for a game than work on a website, which I only use to gather information on a game. If there is a game that has amazing ideas but not a well designed website, am I really going to turn around and say, "The game looks good, but the website sucks. Since the website sucks, I guess that means they can't design a game." That is not true at all though. As long as the game looks good, I couldn't give a crap about the website. PS. This was not only referencing to Darkfall, but every other game. P.S.S. OP, you clearly made this thread to start some AoC vs. WAR vs. Darkfall wars...Good job P.S.S.S. /grabs popcorn Originally posted by killerxion Ahh! I agree with downtoearth... never thought I would see the day. |

Care to find me a sucessful MMORPG game in 2008 that doesnt have an amazing website like AoC and Warhammer ? Blizzard's website is one of the best imo and their game is kicking ass. That's weird because both AoC and War have an amazing website and great community journals and both of them are in beta and things are going well. In the case of Darkfall, the website is very bad, their community journals are of the worst of the industry and the game is considered vaporware. Im pretty sure there's a correlation between a well done website, a good community journal and a sucessful game, and lets just say that Darkfall has none of that. |

I'm not even standing up for Darkfall. I'm making a point that a great gam does not need a great website.
