Anyone playing the game and not experiencing major hitching problems ?   I really want to play the game but the engine is hitching so much it's makes it unplayable for me.   Hell even a medium-low (the lowest setting acceptable for me) it hitch like crazy.    My computer is descent however, it's a 64x2 AMD 5000+, 2Go of RAM and a 7600GT.

I'd like to know what kind of computer or video card i need to be able to play this game relatively hitch-free ?

It do hitch the first time you enter an area but that should not occur in the same manner the second time you run through. I can't tell how it is for you. But test to run through Tursh two times the second time you should not hitch. Not in any significant way.

There is a patch on test where they have added code the makes the initial hitching to be more spread over time. Which make the first hitching when new texture is loaded less.

What is hitchfree?

I hitched in cities in WoW, is that hitchfree?

(In comparison I think WoW didn't load everything at once. Notice how NPC and players gets added after awhile. The difference in Vanguard would be that it loads everything at once, or atleast to much at one time.)

The above highlighted statement is not True for a large portion of people. Only way to see if you are one of us is for you to try it yourself.

I hope what they have on test to supposedly "fix hitching" isnt what they send to the live servers because it Does not work and its caused side effects that add even more problems.

Why do you think I asked those questions in first place?

Why did you? I do not hitch in any other game available like I do in VG. yes other games have hitching/stuttering problems but none in my experience to the extent Vanguard does.

The question was rethorical as you already have the answer yourself, or atleast should have.

Q6600, 2gb, 8800gtx oc. I lag for anywhere from 1-5 seconds when crossing chunks. it doesn't matter how many times you cross them you hitch. When starting the client or entering some cities with a stupid amount of npc's there is slow down. There are some specific very, very localised (literally a few character lengths) areas, where the coding completely assed and you will practically stop or crash, I simply walk around.

Other than that no real problems beyond a few places where you will get stuck in the map. Within the last 3 months of play I've not had any bugs which I considered game breaking. Obviously I can only give my experiences (and my friend who has same rig but dual gt's) but others who have problems I do feel for, because graphically, this is an awe inspireing game. I'm in the AoC beta and I have it on preorder but it doesn't match the scenic ability of this engine and for me thats a huge plus, it feels like a world where so many games now feel like arcade.

I wish I had some advice regarding your hitching but I'm sure you've checked the tech forums, I can only tell you what you asked my system and experiences.
