There's plenty of room in the market for two successfull post-WoW MMORPGs.  No need to play stupid and try and force more into WAR's camp.

 

I played the AoC open beta and if that's anything like what they plan on releasing they...are...screwed! and that's a fact.

 

 

Congrats on making it to Level 13 in AoC(if you even made it that far) because we all know that in WoW the first 13 levels are amazingly exciting every step of the way. Christ you can't even get into the first instance at level 13 in WoW.

I wonder what people want from the first 13 levels in a game? Sorry you can't become a super human PvP/PvE God in the first few levels....

I don't understand why everyone doesn't want the games being released to succeed.  I am very much hoping for the success and prosperity of both AoC and WAR so that the MMO market has more choices, options, and variety.  AoC is still in beta and you titled your post the way you did...  It is off to a rocky start but you are the perfect example of 'the grass is greener on the other side'.  If WAR has a rocky OB are you going to go post on the next game forum you find with something similar? 

I do support all games polishing as long as necessary and I hope that Funcom can pull off a decent launch and AoC can be successful as I wish the same things of WAR.

 Aye, whoever thinks that choices are a bad thing in the MMO market needs to step back and look at the limited options we currently have. I have always wanted the best of these two games and love each of their IPs. If you don't like one, or either, of them that is cool, because people have different tastes. We don't need all this "xxxxx will flop, and yyyyy is better" or "xyz is just zyx 2" talk. If you don't like the product them its time to move on.

Many many kinks in the game will be gone at release or shortly after, WAR can't touch AoC. They have released a lot of information on Seige Battles, Mounts and Crafting, do your research. WAR is just going to be a game for the little kiddies of WoW to go to, so I'm quite happy about that.

Also, AoC is hardly flopping, they are doing pretty well. They WOULD have lost customers if they delayed the game for a third time, they are releasing it at the right time. I am in the exact opposite position as the thread-starter, I was very much looking forward to WAR, I had pre-ordered my copy, then I looked into AoC and cancled that pre-order and put my cash down on AoC. Best move ever.

And it is worse than You think. If WAR flops too the whole MMO genre is in serious trouble. Not dead but in intensive care for sure.

I was mad at first, but then the following week when that new podcast came out i was was all giddy again.

And ya i am glad it got delayed ever new focus test i see huge improvements.

You my dear sir, should do your research properly. While having your own opinion is perfectly fine, dont lie about another game, a lot of kids will be attracted to AoC because AoC have boobs, WAR has also released info on siege battles and crafting, i could easily turn this whole thread into a flamewar but frankly, i wont. Next time you take your precious time to post, make sure you have RESEARCHED (long word innit) what you are about to post about instead of just throwing random stuff out which dont create a base for a proper argument.

Times are changing in the MMO scene and a polished game at lauch is EXPECTED. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt that AoC isnt panning out the way you hoped but dont come here and tell us what we should expect for our hard earned money. If you want to play an unpolished game good for you. I have other things I can spend my money on that frustration from a game that promices something and even if its there, is to buggy to play. Yes the OB only goes up to level 13 but you can definitly tell early on that the game is NOT ready for release. Kudos to EAMythic for trying to get things right!

Um what? First off no, we dont expect to much. I expect a playable game for my hard earned money. No most players will NOT PAY for a game thats junk when its released anymore. Look at vanguard. It would be doing a hell of alot better than it currently is if the release was even close to the polish other games that have been released are. LOTRO is also another game that had a near flawless launch.

Closed beta client is much further ahead and has a lot more problems.(just wanted to note)

Please people we should all be happy if AoC, WAR, Aion, Spellborn do well. Each are doing someting alittle diffrent that hasnt been done before. The MMO market needs devs to start thinking outside of the box and if these MMO's are succesfull all it will do is help all of us. If you cant wrap your head around that, then maybe this is something you can understand better.  

Stop trying to put one MMO ahead of the rest. So long as there are enough people to keep the games at least going and your having fun....WHO GIVES A SHIT what the other MMO's are doing.

Went are they going to make a  mmo  where you not only fight but live in the mmo and everything is made by us?

Well, I am leveling my second character in AOC beta. We all know they are stress testing the severs. 50k people on only a few servers for the game. There is some lag and a known issue with zone load times but both characters have been fun!!!

Every one said that LOTRO would flop and it is not only doing well enough but has improved greatly over time (just as WOW did though people have short memories).

AOC will not flop. It is going to be a good game and stable on release. They will tweak it for the next year but it won't go the way of VG.

WAR will not flop. It will be fun too. All of these games will have different aspects that appeal to different people. I will be playing WAR too.

AOC is not going to flop and it is fun.
