It seems from that statement that he has played WAR. So has WAR already won this contest?

1) I have been playing MMORPGs for the better part of this decade and I can say without a doubt AOC is by far one of the best I have seen.

2) What makes you think this people won't play both WAR and AOC. I know I'm buying both and will keep a monthly sub for each as well as SGW when it comes out.

Why do you, the consumer look at this as a contest? Why not play two really great MMORPGs? Why settle for one? Playing only ONE mmo is like sleeping with just one Women...why? PLAY BOTH MAN! It's way more fun.

I'm not playing AoC..ever..but ..I have nothing against the game and I'd like to see it do well *shrug* its a different kind of game...variety is a welcomed thing but .. some people just go to far with their fanboism.  I"m just waiting for the phasers and the light sabers to come out and the wars to begin....honestly fanboy fights are like the ultimate in stupid geekdom. 

I really hate this thread..they should lock it for its sheer stupidity.

Plenty of room for more games as lets face it no matter how good a game any rational person gets bored after awhile and wants something new.

I will not give any weighted statement, I just want to try to explain the rise of such "vs." threads.

1.) Many people just don't have time to play to MMORPGs, so they want to know which of them would be the better investment for their money and time.

2.) Many MMORPGs NEEDS large populations to fully function (for example WAR's RvR), so if people find out that most people avoid such a game, they think that playing it wouldn't make that much fun as they could with enough players.

3.) People like to be fanboish!

There should not be one winner between these two.  We should all want them to succeed so there are more than 1-3 options of MMO's to play. 

I don't understand the type of mindset that wants less variety in genre that has so little already.  It's like if there were only three brands of cereal at the market, and two new ones were coming out but everyone picked one and talked crap about the other and said stupid crap like 'Has cereal x already defeated cereal y?'...

I am playing AOC beta and see all the potential. people are judging it off of beta which is lame.

People said LOTRO would flop (and some goofs still are). It is better now then ever.

I can't wait to play WAR either. Once I have I will settle on the two I like best so I do not burn out on one game like I have in the past.

I never thought I'd agree with you on anything Prof..usually you annoy me with some of the things you post ...but...you do have your head on straight and I commend you for that.    People need to stop jumping around ships starting troll flame wars...people dont' do any game justice with that.   While I won't be playing or trying out AoC I've been hoping for its success merely because it does offer something new for the heavy guild / raider types.   I still have my fingers crossed in hopes that the Open Beta is just a poor representation and that the launch client blows things away.

Haha when I read old posts I annoy myself, but yeah seriously I do hope for the success of every new MMO.  I usually defend them a little too hard, but it's just because I want games to play and jump around between.  If I get out of line please slap me around a little.
